Is there anything that is truly "unimaginable" ? |
|
They love to use vague wordings and metaphors in these post-round-up news conferences. One official said that downing 10 planes over the Atlantic would have caused "unimaginable" loss of life. Condi Rice testified that "no one could have imagined" using planes as missles.
And of course neither of those was true. In 1940, Disney released "Fantasia". It has hippos dancing ballet. In the movie "Independence Day" aliens lay waste to every major architectural icon in the USA. At the end of WWII, thousand and thousands of concentration camp survivors and those who did not survive, were seen by the world.
About the only thing I can think of that is truly unimaginable is teams of 5 terrorists sneaking high explosives onto planes in Gatorade bottles and then being MacGyver in those tiny bathrooms and quickly assembling a working bomb capable of bring the plane down...on 10 planes simultaneously.

8. Was Hiroshima unimaginable? |

'cause offhand I'm thinking that 20 planes x 400 passengers doesn't even come close.

9. As they are so fond of saying 9/11 changed everything... |

I don't think anything is unimaginable anymore after all of the hysterical ranting that has gone on over the last 5 years about what the big bad terrorists that lurk just around the corner want to do to us. Not saying that they don't, but I think Americans are conditioned now to expect something really terrible to happen.

10. Calibi-Yau space is unimaginable. |
|
Or at least to me it is. Sure, looks good on paper and all, but to try and conceive of it? Ain't happening.
It's probably a great place to hide bombs though, if you could just find a way to access it and build a bomb small enough.
If that kind of space existed at all, that is.
