They Are All War Criminals.
My wife just showed me a photo in the most recent issue of Harper's (Sept 06), of an Iraqi father and son being "detained" behind razor wire by the US. The son is maybe five, or six. The father is holding the son on his lap, trying to comfort him. They're sitting on the ground, in the red Iraqi dust. The child is distraught. The father is wearing a black hood. Trying to comfort the child. It's an absolutely heartbreaking image.

The article is called "American Gulag." If you don't subscribe the Harper's, go to the newsstand and pick up a copy.

Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rice and the rest of them are war criminals. Impeach Bush and Cheney. Try the lot of them. They deserve to rot in prison with bags on their heads.

1. My subscription
lapsed. I'll have to pick it up at the store. It sounds like a truly powerful image, judging from the way it moved you. Iraq is such a heartbreaker. I think half the reason people at DU are focusing on Lebanon instead of Iraq is because Iraq is a) even more fucked than Lebanon, and b) ours.

2. I think the media focus right now is almost entirely on Lebanon.
Iraq is so last week, ya know? DU tends to focus on whatever's on CNN at the moment. It's to be expected.

4. DU is a lot more
CNN than it is Harper's. In other words, we're really no more reflective than society as a whole.
