4. The report that there was a Brit Agent on the inside
must have been false. If there were such an Agent, all of the "plotters" would have been identified and arrested, right?

10. That sounded fishy to me too.
Unless the agent was spectacularly inept: "We never got around to introducing ourselves. Sorry."

15. FYI: "Paki" is considered an insult.
We learned this when Bush* called the people of
Pakistan "Pakis."

32. When did Bush say that?
Edited on Fri Aug-11-06 10:27 PM by Kire
That's hard to believe.

BTW, it's not just considered an insult. In Britain, it is a major insult.

3. Didn't they originally nab 24?
That would mean than five have been released. Unless I got my numbers wrong.

We should start a betting pool on how many are left in custody by the end of next week. I call dibs on zero.

8. Ahh, OK. Thanks for that.
I thought they'd got 24 out of a suspected 29. With all the numbers flying around yesterday, I added the wrong two together.

16. Yeah. Funny isn't it?
I think it's a damned sad thing when my first reaction, straight off the top, when I heard this stuff, was IMMEDIATELY to be suspicious. I don't believe them anymore. And for those who say - but it's the Brits this time (as a good friend pointed out last night) - um - their boy was and still is in collusion with ours, you know. Remember a guy named tony blair?

The timing just stunk to high heaven. The news is going apeshit about Ned Lamont and what it means for invigorating the Democratic Party, and HMMMMMMMM... all of a sudden, it's TERR! TERR! TERR! HMMMMMMMMM... Pardon me if I look at all this through a seriously jaundiced eye, but I do. But then again, these people in OUR White House are such liars that I wouldn't believe them if they said the sun rises in the east every morning.

17. CNN's Blitzer just Verified that One of the 19 had been released....
and followed that with Chertoff saying there's no evidence that "terror cells in US" were involved in the plot and that "Americans should not feel in danger flying." :eyes: (Who got to Chertoff...told him to shut his trap because it was scaring folks too much...or who knows that this was Hyped and Chertoff is covering his butt!)

22. it's looking kind of interesting. On NPR today Diane Rheem's show
had a panel discussion with Ron Susskind (The One Percent Solution) and a Terroism Expert who has a company selling Security all over the world" and a Reporter from the "Financial Times" (I forget his name)

But...what I heard from listening was that the Bomb Plot was more centered on BRITS flying to USA for Business who happen to take American Airlines than targeted towards just Americans (meaning Blair and Bush are hated equally so they will switch off in their attacks :-() and an discussion over the "meaning" of the "term" Homegrown Terrorism.

It was more an intellectual discussion and all except Susskind had an dog in the race for the Repugs or their own interests...but I got the impression that aside from the guy hawking his "terror goods and services" to Dept. of Homeland Security" for big Bucks that both Susskind and FNT's guys were being VERY CAUTIOUS about making any hasty conclusions about the first reports of this Whole TERROR GEL ATTACK! Just my opinion...though.

30. Uh...how so?
Releasing someone who may not be involved is a _good_ thing, by my lights...much more preferable to the situation of those cooling their heels in Git'mo, true?

26. I've heard more are being released soon, perhaps 1/2 of them
some of us have friends and family in legal systems all across the globe. And sometimes, they get so pissed at an obviously politically inept move, not based on facts, that they may even let their friends know about it. However, don't put it past the brits NOT TO DO IT again. For one thing, the over-reaction across the Atlantic pond is so entertaining that they are getting their munchies out ready for our second act.
