Another way the terrorists win is because our science education sucks.
People in this country are so fucking ignorant of science, that's easy for our liars in this administration to play the fear card. "They were gonna blow up the plane with a small phial of household liquid and a watch!"

And America stands by and says, "Yup. Saw it in a movie once, it can be done."

And the fear machine rolls steadily on across this great land.

Check out some of the stuff in this thread:

And so many of the things spouted by non-scientists and non-engineers after 9-11 about building demolition.

One of the reasons republicans will never support a viable education system in this country is not only to assure a population of unintelligent worker drones who won't question anything, but also because an ignorant population makes fear a viable control device.

1. Not to worry! In Bush's State of the Union speech earlier this year,
he promised to focus on Math and Science, so our students will be the most intelligent on the planet.

And then the Republican-led Congress slashed the budget for education, so I guess that vision will have to wait for the next President...

...Just like the end of the Iraq war.

3. "some people say"
Sure, a peroxide bomb. Ever tried making a peroxide reaction that's more than a little fizzle? It's easier to create fire with two sticks.

4. But I thought toothpaste and shampoo made a bomb like the A-bomb?
I was sure I heard ROsie O'Donnel say that on The View this morning, and why would someone on TV lie? And they must use fact checkers, so it's gotta be true!

I'm gonna trust her far more than any dry scientist with his facts and stuffiness and non-fear-based attitude.

5. Maybe with hydrogen peroxide, sure.
But try getting a reaction with (acetone) peroxide. One word: BOOM.
