Either we're fucked or the neocons are in their last throes. |
|
I'm hoping it is the latter, but the Cheney/Lieberman/Right Wing spin machine is in overdrive. Either they have completely lost it or they are banking on the fact that most americans are spoon fed their news and aren't paying attention. The rw message is so shrill, so over the top that I think they have realized they have to pull out all the stops. And they are. I watched some cable news show (Tucker, Hardball or Wolf), I don't remember, and some idiot took up all the air space talking pure shit. No facts, just bs opinoin about the grave danger we are in because democrats don't get it.
A true revolutionary act would be to disrupt the cable and tv lines, causing people to talk to each other and think for themselves.

4. Hitler was fucked, but that didn't stop him from taking... |
|
all of Europe with him as he went down in flames along with the lives of between 40 to 50 million Europeans.
I don't think "we're fucked" and "last throes" are mutually exclusive. Remember that cornered, wounded animals fight most ferociously before they are finally killed.

The Blogs are currently a lightweight counter to the power of the Television media. People need to be engaged and need to speak out. Polls agree that 60% of america thinks it's time to let Iraq solve their own problems without our troops feet on the ground. But from traditional news sources you would be hard pressed to believe it.
How do we take back the media?

The same way they got it in 2000, they steal it.
They own the voting machines, y'know? Since they are so consumed with keeping power, what makes any one think they won't steal it again... and again.

7. I was watching too. But the great thing is that most Americans |
|
don't watch that crap. They probably heard of some terra plot being thwarted and shrugged their shoulders. The RW talkies are soiling themselved over nothing.
RW toadies continue telling their friends about how bad dems are, and either folks believe it, or it just goes in one ear and out the other. That plot did nothing to change the political landscape IMO.

They will lose.....eventually. The question is how long and how much damage will they do on their way out.
Conservatives are control freaks. They believe if they tell people what to do and think long and loud enough, people will do and think as told. They are constitutionally uncomfortable with freedom and democracy.
The Neo-cons thought if they just bought up and controlled all the media, they could change us. In the last two days they have learned undeniably that it is not working, and they're freaking.

I fear my gov't more than anything else. I live in the boonies with little worry of crime or terror.
People in NYC need to fear terra, sure. That is why they voted for Kerry.

9. they lose by winning.... |
|
that's the post regan dilemma of the gopigs: they aren't able to run the ship-o-state pleasing their own extremists while also taking care of business ie avoiding the rocks and hurricanes and pirate fleets and soon, therefore they MUST hand off to the democrats, who meanwhile seem to be trying desperately to help captain queeg (bush) run her onto the reef anyway! somewhere deep in the recesses of the reptilian brains of the gopigs, there is shrieking 'make it stop!' but the fact is they've destroyed liberalism in the usa, and there's no choice now but to press on until the bottom tears out of the doomed ship, which is almost a joy to watch :) admit it

When the democrat lady called her on it, she said she never said it!!! And I was thinking..........what are you talking about? I just heard you say that exact thing not more than 30 seconds ago!!!!
They need to commit these lunatics to an asylum so they don't spread their disease to anyone else........

Well, kohodog, the conclusion I reached today is that the media and Repukes are going to soon be in full meltdown status.
The problem is, they haven't realized that they can spin events, but they can't really control them.
They decide what we see, but they can't influence or change a reality that differs radically from what they decide we will see.
They can tell us the sky is pink and purple polka-dotted every hour on the hour. A few folks, who never get up and go outside, may believe this. Some won't believe it necessarily, but they'll repeat this untruth about the sky because they are told by the media they are abnormal if they don't see the pink and purple polka dots.
The majority of people will just stop watching or listening or believing. They'll go outside (or at least peek up at the sky through a window now and then) and they will reassure themselves that the sky is blue or grey or starry or whatever the sky truthfully appears to be to their own eyes.
No matter how stridently the media tries to sell pink and purple polka dots, they can't change the sky. But that doesn't seem to stop them from frantically trying to sell a far-fetched idea.
They just don't have the power they thought they had over what they thought they could control.
And as much $$$$$$$ as they've made before most people finally looked up, it's a bitter reality they must face about themselves. They just aren't all that.
