UN votes to send 15,000 peacekeepers to S. lebanon. |
|
The United Nations' Security Council voted Friday to send a fifteen thousand strong contingent of peacekeepers and monitors into southern Lebanon in a bid to halt the ongoing violence. The US voted in favor of the measure, but will not send troops. Israel has indicated they will accept the resolution.
This is from Truthout.
So who are these peacekeepers? Where do they come from? Far as I know, the UN doesn't have ANY people hanging around just waiting to do this???

1. My take is they pull on a "roster" of countries' committed |

personnel resources. Doesn't happen overnight, that I do know, but I'm sure there's an established process. Good question, though.
