1. The only person who made me worried was that Marine |
|
He went and fought two tours in Iraq afterward. He was fighting the wrong people, IMHO.

3. From what I gather it is a story within the main story. |
|
The tale of two men who were trapped in the rubble and survived. It doesn't go into the politics of it at all right?

5. Ah, but I bet they show airliners flying into the buildings. |
|
Edited on Sat Aug-12-06 01:07 AM by longship
It'a all a lie. Everybody knows that unpiloted paper mache 767 mock-up drones flew into the towers which were then destroyed by explosives set by the CIA/FBI/NSA/GOP conspirators. :sarcasm:
Sarcasm off -- Ms Longship and I intend to see it. Looks good.

You tellin' a Dem not to criticize? lol I don't plan to see the movie. If you and others wish to do so, more power to you. I simply am not ready to have anything that in my face with something that was so traumatic to me. I think seeing it on the big screen would just be too much. Maybe someday. Glad to hear though that it wasn't used as propaganda.

but I have no desire to go see it. The entire subject of 9/11 has been so misused by the neocons and Bushco. I'm sure it is simply a coincidence that it is being released at this time just months before the fall elections. I have seen all the video of what happened and I am familiar with the stories of the heroes, victims and survivors. I'll pass on this one and watch V for Vendetta again which I think is one of the most inspiring fictional movie I have seen in many years and actually gives me hope in people.

12. I think I saw enough the days following the attacks |
|
Though, I do have three DVDs related to it (four if you count "Fahrenheit 9/11").
"9/11" was the documentary by the two French photojournalists who started out doing a story about rookie firemen, then it turned into something completely different. Excellent, excellent film (which will air on CBS on 9/10). If you only need one 9/11 doc in your collection, this is the one to get. And no, I don't believe in that planes-firing-missles-at-the-Pentagon crap, so don't go there.
I also have the "CNN Remembers" DVD of it, and a disc that came with a book released by CBS called "What We Saw" that I got on clearance at Target, which is worth having just to see Bryant Gumble make a complete ass of himself as disaster unfolded. Not sure why CBS was proud of their ridiculous initial coverage, but oh well.
I've heard nothing but good things about "United 93", and it was directed by the same guy who did "Bourne Supremacy", which was an outstanding flick, IMO. But I feel like I've seen the story too many times already. Perhaps I'll see it someday, like Stone's flick.

9. I saw it tonight - not at all political unless you want to call |
|
a brief shot of people watching Bunnypants on TV saying that day that we were going to get those responsible.
Actually after the towers fell I was a little bit bored watching those guys trapped in the wreckage and then going back to each guy's families that day. One guy in a group in row in front of me actually fell asleep and snored piggy style loudly a couple of times. Thankfully he buddies would wake him up. A local talk show host at a preview last week also mentioned a guy fell asleep in the movie.
It was basically the "two guys trapped in a mine" movie. Oliver Stone did do an incredible job of recreating the view and the sound inside the towers (actually the lower concourse) and then the the wreckage the marines and later the rescuers had to climb upon.
But it was a good movie, I just didn't think it a great one.

and he also noticed people were playing games on their cell phones
he also mentioned the fact that it shows how countries were so much behind us/with us--he said it really stood out because everyone hates us now

it'll ever be time for me in this lifetime to deliberately relive that horror. But I appreciate the director and your opinion reinforces that appreciation.

14. I won't criticize it . . . but I have no interest in seeing it, either . . |
|
I was there for the original . . . watched it unfold live and in color on my tv . . . have neither the need nor the desire to see a fictionalized version . . . we do way too much "tragedy as entertainment" in this country as it is . . .
