In a few years it will be interesting to read what the soldiers
in Iraq are going to be saying about the noble cause of our destroying the country of Iraq. No doubt in my mind that there is a lot of disenting voices we are not allowed at present to hear concerning this. It only took me a few days in country years ago to realize we were on a failed mission in Vietnam. Same war different place and time.

But you went and I'll wager it changed your perspective on what is worth risking security for and what isn't. I went through such reflection upon returning to the world. Sadly, many young men and women will be doing the same for a number of years to come. even more sadly many who will not have to, will ignore what they have and what they could lose if they are not ever vigilant.

3. Depends on the person, I guess.
I occasionally attend meetings of a veterans group at our church. Most of them are Vietnam Veterans who still bellyache about how "we coulda won it if the politicians woulda let us...."

I'm a Gulf War vet. Maybe I might empathize with them more if my particular war had not been a complete rollover.

They're ALREADY talking. Couple hundred Vets, from all these wars, were out in Crawford this summer, & the HEALING that took place was beautiful to behold.
I would enCourage ANY Vet to reach out, to Veterans for Common Sense, Veterans for PEACE, OpTruth.org, IVAW.net(Iraq Vets against the War).
WE will remember the lessons, WE will do the listening, talking,HEALING.
