Have there been any moves on the part of Israel to control the water

in the Litani river? Some are saying that this incursion is about water. Is there any new evidence to support that claim?

1. How they would get the water from the Litani

into Israel is a bit of a mystery. One of those obvious, but never asked questions. There was an offer a few decades back to buy some, but that went nowhere; without cooperation, and with RPGs sitting around, the idea of a pipeline is giggle-inducing. Much of the irrigation-related infrastructure around the Litani was trashed, but that just means it's not controlled, and more than likely more will reach the Mediterranean.

The Wazzani Springs is a different matter. It's only a few miles from the NE border, up near the Golan. Hezb blocked part of the flow, Israel protested, and Lebanon mewled about international sovereignty and helplessness and treaties and who knows what all; Hezb got great PR--reclaim Muslims' water from the Zionists and restore it to poor Muslims. I suspect that the Hezb pumping station is out of order currently, but for Israel to actually do much with the water would be foolish. They won't retain control over the source, and the matter will have to be worked out between the two legitimate governments at some point. Becoming reliant on the water, or assuming the flow will continue, is silliness.
