I can't believe that they'd air that bitch on Book TV. I thought they were better than airing any schlub that wrote a book that denigrates the other side of the spectrum. She's nothing more than entertainment for RW nuts.
I actually feel sort of violated. Book TV for me has always been a place where I can hear reasonable people have reasonable discussions about their books and the ideas behind them (even if I disagree) without vitriol. Ann Coulter is about as far from "reasonable" as one can get.
I'll have to find something else to watch on TV tonight at one AM. Ringo

Particularly when Brian Lamb is hosting. He is not good about hiding his clear preference for Republicans and their bullshit.

Well, I guess that I should be grateful that C-Span is willing to air people from different parts of the spectrum. In my opinion, however, Ann Coulter doesn't deserve an appearance on Book TV. It's not because of her political views per se, but because she's a hateful ideologue. Her popularity is completely defined by how nasty and partisan she can be. She's nothing but a RW hack that throws red meat to similar RW hacks.
Pundits that are nothing more than entertainment (did you see Paul Greenberg's latest column on Coulter?) shouldn't be treated like serious pundits who really have something to say. Ringo

but as long as people buy her swill and keep on treating her like a pundit, I think C-SPAN would be amiss not to include her

5. Well that's the benefits of The Machine, people DON'T have to buy her |
|
swill (or pay normal book shop prices) for her to be labelled a "bestselling author." I guess my book would "break records" if I were giving it away for 25 cents or whatever the join-tease is.

6. Yeah, she was on last weekend... |
|
and it's a little disturbing that they'd put her on again.
Came on after Michelle Goldberg gave a fantastic talk about her book "Kingdom Coming" and I left BookTV on for Coulter for some masochistic reason. Couldn't watch more than a few minutes of it, though-- Coulter's talk was to the Claire Booth Luce Society, or some such thing, with a passel of college girls who cheered her on.
PukeTV at it's worst but, hey, freedom of speech means even the Coultergeist gets her 15 minutes.

Was she? I was at a cousin's wedding on vacation and didn't get to watch Book TV all weekend. I'm planning to watch Michelle Goldberg, because her topic sounds like it's going to be good. After that, I might turn to MASH on Hallmark or Fresh Prince of Bel-Air on ABC Family or something - anything.
When that bitch was on Jay Leno, it bothered me so much that I wasn't the same for days afterwards. I'm sure the Freepers who lurk here will have a good laugh over that, but it's hard for me to understand how someone can be that hateful and receive so much goodwill and money from people.
Yeah, I believe in free speech for even Ann Coulter. It's her vitriol I despise. I just thought that Book TV was better than this. Having Coulterbitch on isn't a "dealbreaker" that will make me stop watching, but I'm disappointed that they'd even give her the time of day. Ringo

10. Fuggeddabout Coulter-- just make sure you see Goldberg... |
|
she's spot on about the Armageddon types and some of what she knows will scare the crap out of you. She spent a lot of time researching her book, and this isn't the first time I've heard her talk.
All is not lost, though, since Armageddon's not coming and they'll fade back into the woodwork.

Because anyone stupid enough to want one of her books, has got to be too ignorant to read the damned thing.

I think not. Coulter is not that bad but she is close.
