"The Florida media gave a gang of racist thugs in New Port Richey too much credit in describing their mobile home hangout at 9321 Teak Street as a neo-Nazi "compound."

"When I think of a compound, I think of acres of land," says Kevin Doll, public information director for the Pasco County Sheriff's Office. "But this was a small lot with a fence around it, with Nazi propaganda up around the home."

The trailer, a single-family unit in the Griffin Park trailer community, contained four Nazi flags, a Confederate battle flag, and a swastika posted atop a wooden pole in the front yard.

According to police, the people who frequented the residence were hardened criminals notorious for heavy drinking, assaults, burglaries and heckling neighbors they suspected of associating with black people. The gang repeatedly harassed Patricia Wells, who lived two trailers down, for having a black boyfriend. On March 7, Brian "Zero" Buckley, the leader of the Teak Street neo-Nazis, broke into Wells' home after chasing her and banging down her door. No one was injured.

Then, near midnight on March 23, a man wearing a gas mask knocked on Wells' door, slashed her in the face and hand with a knife when she opened it, and went on to stab her son's 17-year-old friend, Kristofer King, to death."

It could be any number or collection of certain issues, so its hard to say. At first glance, I would think this guys are some misguided idiots, who thought they knew what life was about, and tried pushing that lifestyle onto others, with a violent fringe element...

I bet the neighbors of these people would have much rather had a family of immigrants (legal or not) living next to them instead of these thugs.

Even if they had to go pee-pee outside once in the while.

I know I would have.

I also suspect these folks were very much against "illegal" immigrants too. Might even be Minutemen?

I have friends that live in New Port Richey, it's a nice area. But there's always an element in any city or town that drags the rest of the good people down. The thing is, with a little pre-intervention by the local police, this might have never happened.

Floriduh (mostly in the northern and panhandle areas) is a hot-bed of racism. Things haven't changed that much since the days of Rosewood. I'm a middle aged, white male.......and I was terrified when I decided to take a "back-roads" road trip around northern Floriduh. I was looking for a place to settle down in my retirement. Needless to say, that part of the state was quickly crossed off the list. Long hair, long beards, tattoos, pick-up trucks with gun racks with confederate flags........and those were the women!

It's amazing that some parts of the country are still that backward and WANT to be! Alright, I've ranted enough...... :rant:

7. Why, please tell me why, Florida isn't monitoring these known hate

groups as harshly as they do dark-skinned suspects of terrorism? Did they bug their phones? If not, why not?
