Ongoing heavy civilian toll in Lebanon 'unacceptable': Red Cross
6 minutes ago

GENEVA (AFP) - The International Committee of the Red Cross slammed the ongoing heavy civilian casualties in the conflict in Lebanon as "unacceptable".

"The ICRC has repeatedly expressed its concerns about insufficient precautions taken in attacks by the parties to the armed conflict," the agency said in a statement Sunday.

"It is unacceptable that after more than 30 days of ongoing military operations, all necessary precautions to spare civilian life and those engaged in medical work have still not been taken," it said.

The humanitarian agency highlighted an Israeli air strike Friday on hundreds of people fleeing the area of Marajayoun by car, in which six were killed and 32 were wounded

1. It's perfectly acceptable to Israel
and the US, and what do they care about the Red Cross or the Geneva Conventions or any other attempt to civilise the world through international law and organisations?

We have to face it - this is a lawless world where might makes right.

2. Unacceptable only to the civilized elements of society.
Unfortunately we seem to be a small and ever dwindling minority. The savagery of war makes barbarians of us all, it is the message that the Veterans for Peace have tried to deliver. It is a simple truth that our leaders would know if they had stepped forward when they were called.

3. They want to inflict as much carnage as they can...........
by Monday's deadline. Until then, the wholesale slaughter of Lebanese civilians is great sport for the aggressors. The Israelis are coming close to practicing what they experienced by the hands of Hitler. Genocide. I hope this makes them feel better. :grr:

4. Israel has finally approved

the cessation of hostilities from 8.00am tomorrow. Of course the presence of 30,000 Israeli troops does nothing to make me feel confident about peace at last.
