Three major crises face Bush on return to Washington
By Steve Holland

CRAWFORD, Texas (Reuters) - President George W. Bush faced major security challenges on three fronts on Sunday as he prepared to return to Washington after a 10-day working vacation at his ranch.

The fighting in southern Lebanon, concerns about whether there are still suspects at large in the British terror plot and the ongoing war in Iraq represented formidable issues facing the president.

White House officials were under no illusions that a U.N. Security Council resolution reached on Friday night would bring a swift end to the month-old Israeli-Hizbollah conflict, as Israeli forces pushed deeper into Lebanon.

On the British terror plot, two dozen suspects were under arrest, but Bush was concerned that more people involved in the plot remained at large and could represent a threat.

snip...
And he is back in his limousine after days of riding ranch trails on his mountain bike, once running over an armadillo and another time crashing while trying to negotiate a steep hill.

1. I'd like to know why he can't stay on his darn bike
He needs training wheels along with much other training starting with diplomacy.

5. Guess they'll use that last snippet
to explain the bruises that we'll see, probably caused by falling down in a drunken/drugged stupor.

6. Sure and is that a super model @ my door?
Bush puts down his summer reading -- including Albert Camus' "The Stranger," and two books on
Civil War President Abraham Lincoln -- in favor of presidential briefing books.

7. reuters is a liar...
bush isn't facing '3 crisis' when he craps in washington-he's facing the same crisis as ever; how to keep bamboolizing the people, how to keep the pigmedia in line, how to use terror to save himself and the rest, including the punks running reuters/yahoo ad nazism
(the armadillo reference was to get you all to say 'oh that homer simpson! what a hopeless, but lovable, loser he is' etc)
fukk the pigmedia

OK, let's get serious here now. How many headers has BUSH
taken since getting into office? IT HAS TO BE NEARLY A DOZEN
, starting back with the pretzel dive.

Anyone keeping count?

God have mercy on the soul of the poor, innocent armadillo...

9. Be that as it may....
his ratings have gone up by 11 percent on the arrests in England.

I wonder what will happen if it turns out that the suspects cannot be tried on the evidence. The Brits wanted to wait to amass more evidence, the Americans said to move early.

I guess the trials will not start until after the 2006 election and it does not matter if the terrorists go free, just so the Republicans stay in control of congress.

10. He could try facing them while he's still at the ranch.
A lot of past presidents have done that during times of crisis, even his own father.

11. Following the Roman/Machiavellian model - one big crisis
The war on the frontier, the offensive invasion of southwestern and central Asia, is going very poorly. The barbarians have withstood everything we have thrown at them. In addition to surviving all manner of "high tech" military attacks, they have increased their power and influence, while sapping our treasury and military resources.

Bush's greatest blunder was the UN resolution concerning the Iranian nuclear program. Hailed as a diplomatic victory, he will either have to abandon the resolution or go to war. Both courses will be diastrous for him.

12. Before I read the article, I thought the "armadillo" was BUSH!
har har ...

Seriously, as often as this NONlovable oaf gets himself smashed into the ground face first, he might as well BE an armadillo!

The corporate media always tried to portray Gerald Ford as a "lovable" clumsy bum, and it worked -- to a point. The same tactic just ain't workin' for Dubya, however, since he insists on continuing his "reckless driving" on every form of non- or low-powered transport out there. Oh yeah, but then he also stepped on his own you-know-what when simply JOGGING and fell a lot, didn't he?

Maybe he ought to try a Hoveround next -- reckon he could crash one of those?

But if we make fun of him over this prediliction for self-immolation he has, his two remaining supporters will accuse us of being cruel to the poor man, right? Hmmm ... come to think of it, maybe he's taking deliberate dives just to drum up more sympathy that will translate into support? Say it ain't so!

I can just hear KKKarl whispering in his ear: "The news is worse than usual this week -- time for you to take another fall and get some new scabs."

Can't you just imagine all those fundie moms wanting to tend his booboos? Yuck, sorry to paint that image for ya's.... :puke:
