report: our local Dems candidates fundraising event yesterday |
|
San Bernardino CA - Saturday evening a local dems candidate forum/fundraiser was held at a local union hall (law enforcement union of some sort donated the meeting place, tho it is not very friendly to dems as a whole I think). Candidates covered a wide geographical area some 60 miles east to west. Attending were about 3 dozen local dems candidates for various city councils, mayorships, state senate and representatives, county tax assesors candidates etc. The primary purpose of the event seemed to be to allow all these various dems and their assistants to meet and network, help each other out. there were various unions represented (printers etc to provide union services). The general public was not well represented, but I think that was not the goal. It was a networking event. Lots of interesting stories and angles on local politics. Good to see so much coordination happening in an area that is fragmented, pockets of mostly repub voter, pockets of mostly dems voters, and a third of the area is balanced. howard dean's strategies of contesting every seat were well embraced and discussed.

I think that is one of the things that he will be remembered for. The 50 state strategy. I am so glad that we don't have someone doing power lunches inside the beltway.
