We need to paint Republicans as demonic.
George Bush is a perfect example of an anti-Christ. Christians who follow the false gods of conservatism and the Republican party need to be educated that they are following a dark path that leads ultimately to Hell. This needs to be done. Pound it home. Republicans are Luciferian in their ways and the current administration is of the devil.

1. Bumper sticker I've seen: "I thought the anti-Christ was supposed to be
intelligent and charming"

and a pic of Bush.

2. I've taken to referring to it as the Republican Cult.

They function like a cult. Blind allegiance, never questioning, repeat the same buzzwords, giving the leaders whatever they want, even if they hurt the country.

3. Dems truly need to jump on statements like that of Cheney recently
Connecticut voters supporting al-kaeda? -- how much more absurd do you have to get?? CNN asks if Lamont voters are supporting al-kaeda? WTF!!

6. Anyone who disagrees (now 60% and growing) is labeled an
"extremist."

He's not just attacking people from CT, he's minimizing the belief and will of more than 60 percent of the country who disagree with Bush policies. How long can people let that fly?

7. Ted Kennedy has already led the charge
http://www.courant.com/news/opinion/commentary/hc-commentarykennedy0813.artaug13,0,5926112.story

Vice presidents are notorious for serving as an administration's chief attack dog, and time and again Dick Cheney has been unleashed to accuse anyone who is opposed to the Bush administration of aiding the terrorists. But this time he has gone too far.

The comments he made on the result of the Connecticut Democratic primary - that it might encourage "the al-Qaida types" who want to "break the will of the American people in terms of our ability to stay in the fight and complete the task" - are an attack not just on Democrats, but on democracy itself.

What happened in Connecticut is in fact a model for democracies everywhere. The people of the state heard a vigorous debate between two competing visions of how to protect this country. Young citizens became deeply involved, and turnout was high. The primary reminded us of the miracle of our democracy, in which the nation is ruled by its people - not by any entrenched set of leaders. There are few better messages we could send the world in these troubled times.

Cheney's comments about the election were ugly and frightening. They show once again that he and his party will stop at nothing to wrap Republicans in the flag and to insinuate that anyone who votes against them is giving aid and comfort to the terrorists. It's obvious that this administration lacks basic respect for our fundamental freedoms.............Ned Lamont's victory in Connecticut scares Cheney for one simple reason: It demonstrates that a free and independent people can and do hold public officials accountable for their words and deeds.

..........The November election will teach Dick Cheney and others of his ilk that they cannot use fear to cling to power. As Will Rogers said, "It's no disgrace not to be able to run a country nowadays, but it is a disgrace to keep on trying when you know you can't."

Edward M. Kennedy is a U.S. senator from Massachusetts.

11. Agreed. But the Repub Party is even more centrally controlled
than the Dems and most federal candidates were hand picked by Cheney. I hope rank and file Republicans are so dissatisfied that they sit this election out.

8. NO! Enough of this! It's time to stop campaigning on GOP failures!
Americans, particularly the undecideds which are all-important right now, won't accept a mudslinging Democratic party campaign of name-calling.

It's time to focus on the solutions to fix the problems in Iraq and here at home. Solutions, Hope, Optimism, Connecting with the average American.

That's the way to do it.

10. Oh for fuck's sake,
do we really have to sink to their level? Count me out. I'll fight hard, but I'll be damned if I'm gonna start painting people as demonic or vermin or any of that monumentally ugly and stupid shit.

17. The fact that Democrats generally aren't creepy zealots...
The fact that Democrats generally aren't creepy zealots who demonize people who disagree with them is one of the many reasons why I am a Democrat.

So, no thanks. George W. Bush has caused enough trouble in the natural world, so no need to bring the supernatural into it, OK?
