The Guardian article that says 'War On Terror Is BS'
Edited on Fri Jan-20-06 02:14 AM by upi402
This war on terrorism is bogus

The 9/11 attacks gave the US an ideal pretext to use force to secure its global domination

Michael Meacher

The Guardian

Massive attention has now been given - and rightly so - to the reasons why Britain went to war against Iraq. But far too little attention has focused on why the US went to war, and that throws light on British motives too. The conventional explanation is that after the Twin Towers were hit, retaliation against al-Qaida bases in Afghanistan was a natural first step in launching a global war against terrorism. Then, because Saddam Hussein was alleged by the US and UK governments to retain weapons of mass destruction, the war could be extended to Iraq as well. However this theory does not fit all the facts. The truth may be a great deal murkier.

(snip, continues)

The PNAC blueprint supports an earlier document attributed to Wolfowitz and Libby which said the US must "discourage advanced industrial nations from challenging our leadership or even aspiring to a larger regional or global role". It refers to key allies such as the UK as "the most effective and efficient means of exercising American global leadership". It describes peacekeeping missions as "demanding American political leadership rather than that of the UN". It says "even should Saddam pass from the scene", US bases in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait will remain permanently... as "Iran may well prove as large a threat to US interests as Iraq has". It spotlights China for "regime change", saying "it is time to increase the presence of American forces in SE Asia".

1. Libby & Wolfie have financially & militarily broken this country
There's nothing more. We can't fight or pay anymore. Our infrastructure is dying and we can't even extend universal health care to our own after supplying it to all Iraqis. It's over. W shot his wad and we're left with nothing. Paul Harvey said that very soon outside countries will own more of America than Americans do.

All brought to you by G W Bush and his bushbots.

9. Of course, it's not our media.
Look and listen around you. Everything you see, hear, eat, all of it belongs to big business. There is now only corporate media and indymedia-FSTV, link, etc. and about half of PBS. That's enough, along with expanding AAR, to continue the fight, but the only way that the "media" will ever start reflecting the truth instead on a pseudo reality show is if they notice that the truth is getting a rising audience, while theirs stays even or slumps,

The only show that has any credibility at all is Keith Olberman and he whiffs pretty regularly.

8. Boy, he got that right! "The war on terror is bogus."
I've never seen such a load of crap in all my life--and I went go back to the Vietnam War.

It's a mind-boggling day when the only hope for world peace is that we go bankrupt. It's like Dad gave the kid the keys to the Jag, and also handed him his entire gun collection, and a couple of major credit cards, and then drank himself into a stupor, while the kid shoots up the neighborthood and ruins the family. It's THAT nuts.

But now that he's wrecked the car, and the ammo's run out, half the neighbors are dead, and the bank has wisely put a stop on the cards, MAYBE Mom can put food on the table. Maybe! If she can find some shit job as a telemarketer.

Family values.

Keepin y'all safe from terra.
