Someone managed to get a mobile phone past security and into the passenger area. Oh the humanity.

BA flight turned back to Heathrow

A British Airways flight from Heathrow to New York has been turned back after a mobile phone was heard ringing at the back of the plane.
No-one on board the plane admitted owning the phone, banned under current security restrictions, so flight BA179 returned to the London airport.

The scare came as the Department for Transport downgraded the UK terror threat from critical to severe.

Travellers have been told to expect more delays under security measures.

6. i think i will wait until i hear more of the story before mocking
i mean, what if there is a real reason, other than just position of cell phone, becuase after all, i would think the dude handing it over until end of flight would solve the problem.

and if i were so far off, ooooosh, the embarrassment. how foolish of me

7. Throw him the slammer, leave him there for years, then give him
an unfair trial and shoot him. Belay that if it is a hot looking chic.

Britain lowers its terrorist threat level from "critical" to "severe," the country's Transportation Department says.

I'm betting this turns out to be just some idiot passenger who was being a wiseass smuggling his phone past security - like terrorists couldn't.

16. Actually some phones have an alarm that turns them on
My Nokia has this and it's very handy for waking me up when I want to take a short nap.

But you have to remember to turn the alarm off.

17. Isn't it fairly simple to trace the owner of a cell phone? It also
just dawned on me that if they had not had cell phones on that 9/11 plane that went down in PA we would not know so much about what happened and neither would the police.

18. Didn't they all tell us...
early on after 9-11 that if we stop living life the way we're used to, that the terrorists have won? Well, I'd say not being able to get on a flight with your cell phone or your medicine or your hair gel kinda makes us the loosers.
