8. 28 days...
they can only be held for 28 days without charges and one had been released already. Either the person released was the alledged infiltrator or their just full of shit and the rest will be released in a week or two. My guess is this whole episode was just another hoax but time will tell.

12. They won't be sent anywhere, they're British Subjects...
Those guys are British Subjects/Citizens. Most likely, they'll be held until the media blitz is over and the next phase of the election is kicked in, then they'll be released with little fanfare and a lot of "we're sure they're guilty but those damn civil rights laws just keep on getting in the way of protecting the people...". If no one is charged within the next week, odds are they won't be charged at all. If some are released, expect a rather HUGH!!! news story to coincide with their release. However, some will most likely be charged with something completely unrelated to Terrorism charges just to keep up appearances.

17. The booga booga terror law
lets them hold for 28 days. But they have already been in front of a judge who said they could hold them without charges only until Wednesday .

This is already disintegrating like wet cotton candy.

18. How many had passports, anyway?
Haven't been able to keep up with the news past few days, but read something about NO PASSPORTS?!?

Um, so how were they gonna get the goo on the planes to blow them up over the ocean?

I'm so confused.

19. some had, some didn't have (passports) -- none yet had tickets
Edited on Mon Aug-14-06 12:38 AM by pitohui
i think we are going to have to wait for this to be clarified

how many were actual plotters and how many were "accessories" to the conspiracy -- as in, if someone brags to me his plans about bringing down an airliner and i don't call the fbi, well, guess what, i might not have a passport, i might not be a part of the "cell," but i'm still gonna get my happy ass arrested for not reporting that kind of crap

between pakistan and britain we're going on nearly 4 dozen people busted, they weren't all going to get in a lav on an airliner and blow up their shoes

22. 4 dozen people?
Sounds less like a plot and more like a political party all the time.

2. Don't hold your breath on this one. They have already started
in with the "well, we have foiled 4 other plots! (what plots?)" and " This has international connections! (one guy's brother)" and
" there might be copy cat bombers"

the plot gets thick.

Does UK have "thought crimes" laws? Just asking.

5. Some components. But which ones? Cell phones or watches?
Gator aide? Tampon "fuses"? I'm waiting 'til there's more info...which could mean 'til the trial. If they are tried.

If they'd been prepared to assemble a bomb on the spot, why did Brit intel want to wait? Makes no sense.

10. the article read all components and they tried it out.
Edited on Sun Aug-13-06 09:03 PM by seabeyond
they waited i think because they were well monitored maybe someone within, but sounds as if they were well monitored and they didn't have the tickets or all passports yet. i think they were comfortable waiting because it was clear they had time and people weren't going out yet. i certainly understand waiting and not trusting. if i am wrong i really really want to be called on it. will see if i can find the article. and of course the more time that goes the more we find out

i also don't want to make this into nothing like the tunnel terrorists or miami 7 if it really is a legitimate threat. because already, even if these were really bad boy bush fucked us again the way he has handled it thus far and shame on him. he gets to own it. and all those that don't like that we are always questioning, this is why. bush. enough said.

i also think it is important we only put out factual information and if they did have all the components that is what we say

http://msnbc.msn.com/id/14320452/

The official shed light on other aspects of the case, saying that while the investigation into the bombing plot began "months ago," some suspects were known to the security services even before the London subway bombings last year.

He acknowledged that authorities had conducted electronic and e-mail surveillance as well as physical surveillance of the suspects.

Monitoring of Rauf, in particular, apparently played a critical role, revealing that the plotters had tested the explosive liquid mixture they planned to use at a location outside Britain. NBC News has previously reported that the explosive mixture was tested in Pakistan. The source said the suspects in Britain had obtained at least some of the materials for the explosive but had not yet actually prepared or mixed it.

on edit: some of the compoments. the way it is stated bothers me. and they havent prepared or tested, even though above they say they have. but they cant mix them if they dont have all .... so who the fuck knows. i am with you

15. they had tried out in pakistan, some were arrested in britain
seabeyond i wouldn't jump any ass until we get the whole story

however at this time it APPEARS as tho the people in pakistan, where i believe 17 or so people were arrested, were the ones who had conducted the explosives tests

the 24 other people were arrested in britain, some of these apparently persons who had never traveled anywhere and had no passports -- they were under surveillance and supposedly received a message to begin the attacks but they had not yet purchased air tickets

we'll have to wait and see if we are told more

20. they "had at least some of the materials..."
"at least some"? Is it SOME or AT LEAST some? Could be poor writing, inaccurate reporting, but what's AT LEAST some? Gatorade? A cell phone? If they'd posessed peroxide/C-4/fertilizer I'll bet we'd have heard it one million times by now.

"had not yet actually prepared or mixed it" I wonder if that's due to the lack of critical (explosive? who knows?) ingredients.

This story just smells. I'm aiting for more info, charges, trial if any.

21. you are right.
i wrote that post and then wen and got the sight and article

as i copied and pasted the end of the article i noticed the at least some. and right there. that is the stuff you have to catch. that makes me question too. it is bullshit.... that we are played all the friggin time b these people and we cant just believe what they give us and support them on something as important as terrorism. and i called the "had not yet actually prepared or mixed it" too. dont have the ingredients i bet they didnt. but further, since they specifically talked about a practice explosion i wonder about the significance of this in article

13. Plus, insisted the British arrest right away and not continue surveillance
So far no connection to the US or anyone arrested, but Bush tells British go ahead and arrest right away --don't continue your surveillance.

What kind of "tail" is wagging the dog here?

Now there are no charges, and all may be released.
