Isreal, Isreal, Isreal.......Why should I care?
It's mentioned on the news alot.....

None of my relatives come from there.

I'm not Jewish or Palestinian.

I don't trade with them/they don't trade with me.

I barely know where it even IS.

Oh, my Lord & Savior was "born there" (am I really sure of that 'fact'?)

You want me to send my precious child over there to Isreal to 'serve'? Why? Who are these people? What is this place ~ Isreal ~ anyway? :shrug:

1. If you pay taxes, you are financing everything Israel does.
So you have a say regarding the bombing of innocent Lebanese civilians, who never had anything to do with Hezbollah.

Wake up, man. Wake up.

2. It's a sovereign nation worthy of criticism just like Palestine just like
any other nation.

But if you rag on Israel you're a Jew-hating Holacaust denier.

If you rag on Palestine you're a racist bigoted redneck.

Personally both nations are full of greedy power hungry sadistic assholes whom have no bright future if they don't change their ways.

especially your last line:

I don't agree TOTALLY with it, but I've never like TROUBLEMAKERS and STAY WAY WAY AWAY FROM THEM......Who's the one causing trouble? Whatever you conclude, it's probably wise to stay WAY WAY AWAY from them. (btw, don't cause trouble for them either, just drop them like a "hot potato")

It's a sovereign nation worthy of criticism just like Palestine

..."Palestine," legally speaking, does not exist. There is no sovereign state of Palestine at this time, and won't be until the Palestinians either:

a) conduct a peace treaty with Israel in which the latter recognizes them as a sovereign nation. or

b) declare independence and manage to fight off any Israeli attempts to crush said movement toward independence through a re-occupation of the territories. (Good luck! :eyes: )

At the moment, "Palestine" has as much existence as a sovereign nation as any of the Native American tribes with a few hundred acres of land under "local administration." Except that Palestine currently has no casinos.

Which is then dropped on Lebanon.

The Lebanese civilians who had to bury members of their families killed by these bombs will know they were "made in America." They will hate you and your child because they lost their children. It's the kind of blood hatred that generates more terrorism.

If we have to pay so they can take land and kill everyone we might as well make them part of the USA. After over 50 years of it I have had enough of them. They can't get along with anyone.

I've never thought of it that way. If they were a state, we could ignore them like we did LA. and MS. We could ignore all those people dying in front of our eyes on tv. Monkeyboy could make promises that he never intended to keep. And best of all, we would save the country more money to spend on some other war in the middle east.
You heard it here first folks: LETS MAKE ISRAEL THE VERY NEXT STATE!!!!

When the Nazis came for the communists,
I remained silent;
I was not a communist.

When they locked up the social democrats,
I remained silent;
I was not a social democrat.

When they came for the trade unionists,
I did not speak out;
I was not a trade unionist.

When they came for the Jews,
I did not speak out;
I was not a Jew.

When they came for me,
there was no one left to speak out.

- Pastor Martin Niemöller

You know that guy in Gitmo (the one with the sack over his head holding his 9 year old boy).....if you said NOTHING.....

(it was an award-winning photo, so someone please post, if you have it)

.....then when they come for you, there's no one to say anything, is there? (on edit adding: I see it this way b/c I'm not Jewish/Palestian/Muslim/or 'anything else' "hot topic" ~ let's talk about Darfur for a few minutes, shall we? Nah....I've got no connection to any of that either, except by virtue of being of the human race. Oh, I suppose those folks could blow something up to make me a 'part of THEIR ACTION', but then again....maybe I'm a little bit 'too smart' to fall into that gig. ;-)

--------

Where's the outrage!!!!

'I'M AS MAD AS HELL, AND I'M NOT GOING TO TAKE THIS ANYMORE!' I want you to get up right now, sit up, go to your windows, open them and stick your head out and yell - 'I'm as mad as hell and I'm not going to take this anymore!' Things have got to change. But first, you've gotta get mad!... You've got to say, 'I'm as mad as hell, and I'm not going to take this anymore!' Then we'll figure out what to do about the depression and the inflation and the oil crisis. But first get up out of your chairs, open the window, stick your head out, and yell, and say it: 'I'M AS MAD AS HELL, AND I'M NOT GOING TO TAKE THIS ANYMORE!'

38. A modern-day Niemöller...
...might have an updated version of that poem, beginning:

When they demolished the Palestinian homes and orchards,
I remained silent;
I was not a Palestinian.

When they massacred the refugees at Sabra and Chatilla,
I remained silent;
I was not a refugee.

When they bombed women and children at Qana,
I remained silent;
I was not Lebanese.

and so it goes...

(And, before anyone points it out, the "they" doesn't always refer to Israelis. Nevertheless, it highlights the fact that, for too many people, the "Ay-rabs" are the one people who can be oppressed and mistreated with impunity at this point in world history.)

43. Of course, the refugees at Sabra and Shatilla
were massacred by their own "Ay-rabs" Lebanese brothers, and, of course, before 1967, the refugee camps were oppressed by their own "Ay-rabs" Jordanian and Egyptian brothers, and, of course, the Iraqis are killing each others, and before that they, and the Syrians had several revolutions when the heads of the king and the prime ministers were paraded, and the Jordanians massacred the Palestinians in September 1970, and the Palestinians were the cause of the 20-year old Lebanese civil war, and Syria occupied Lebanon for 20 years, and was behind the murder of prime minister Rafiq Hariri...

The list of atrocities committed by one "Ay-rabs" on another is long and convoluted, the most recent entry is Hezbollah deliberately hiding among civilians, but who cares about facts?

30. Seriouslly, don't worry about it.
If you're American, then Israel is an ally whether you like it or not. A big Chunk of Your Tax Money goes to Israel whether you support it, oppose it, or you're just plain dumb like a rock and never heard of it before (sort of the way you make yourself sound, but I'm sure you know a whole lot more than I do). That's basically all that you need to know.

was already within my earlier post. Because Israel is an ally. America's closest Ally. Even closer than Great Britain. See how some foiled terrorist plan changed the whole travel thing in the UK, and then it had to be changed in the U.S. as well. You're wondering why? Well that's because we're allies. Well Israel is way more of an ally than Great Britain and that's not a choice, it's a fact, so you think about that for a while. Surely your tax money is being well spent.

If you go by the Biblical accounts, Jesus was born in Bethlehem, which is a West Bank town under the control of the Palestinian Authority. Although it was occupied by Israel after 1967, it was never part of any modern state of Israel.

32. No, Israel does not want your children
Bush wants to send your children to Iraq, not Israel. Israel at least does its own fighting.

Although many things about Jesus' life may be apocryphal, we can be sure he was a Nazarene.

Israel does produce a lot of stuff--lots of oranges and flowers for the European market, and a lot of high tech stuff. It's the 35th largest economy in the world, and 36% of its exports go to the US.

As for your larger point, it is questionable whether we have gotten our money's worth in giving massive amounts of aid to Israel. They are a fairly well-off nation, and could probably support themselves. I'm not sure, however, that whether you or I or anyone else has a personal connection to a given state should determine our foreign policy. For example, I have never been to the Sudan, don't know any Sudanese, and have not even been to a Sudanese restaurant. Nonetheless, I think we should be involved in helping to ease the suffering there.
