Has The TERROR WELL Run Dry? (New CBS Poll: 36% Approval-Post Plot)
Edited on Mon Aug-14-06 11:09 AM by Beetwasher
Is the public "on" to the "terror gambit" that Bushco. has used ad nauseum? I think so. The latest CBS poll has no bounce whatsoever, and it was taken AFTER the plot arrests and asked specific questions related to it. His approval is STILL an unchanged and anemic 36%.

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2006/08/14/opinion/polls/main1890820.shtml

These terror threats were initially a shock to the system every time the were announced, but like any shock to the system, if you do it enough times, the body adjusts and becomes used to it and it no longer has the same effect.

I think the public is inured to it. They've over-used it (surprise) and it no longer has the desired effect. Additionally, I think there's just no going back for Chimpy. Once people see through you, they see through you and there's no turning that around.

All I can say is, HA HA!

1. The Boy Who Cried Wolf was written for a reason.
Too bad no one read it to the neo-conservatives.

These jokers read 1984, and saw it as a game-plan, rather than a warning.

14. It had a hand in speeding up the process, of that I agree
Edited on Mon Aug-14-06 11:56 AM by Lone_Star_Dem
People would have gotten tired of the abuse of the issue anyway in time.

I honestly feel that people are growing weary of more than just the cries of terror! and the drumming of be afraid in their ears.

The war, economy, gas prices and the effect of this administrations poor handling of everything they've touched is leaving some very discontented people roaming the country.

2. I think so - The only thing they have to sell is fear itself...
I think that fear has a point where people say, I am tired of being scared, and so far, I am scared for no reason...

4. Fear is all the GOP have to offer. They have failed at everything.
The economy is about to reveal the irresponsible actions of the Bush Administration.

Everyone can plainly see the war in Iraq was a mistake, and an expensive failure. Terrorism has increased since we started the fight against it, and in spite of capturing or killing some of the top terrorists, new people are waiting to take their place.

Osama bin Laden is still loose. Five years later, he's still roaming freely. Even his capture now will do little to curb terrorism, it's feeding itself now. (I look for this to be the October surprise, if there is one.)

Bush and his administration have been caught in lies, cronyism, and incompetence.

Fear and terror are all they have, and people are tired of it at this point. It's a rerun, we've seen it before. Most are looking for a new season, now. It's time for a change.

9. Yup, People Are "Getting" It. I Think If They Continue W/ This Bullshit
Equating Dems w/ terrorists or MORE terror hype (and they will, they can't help it), it may very well backfire, big time. It may already be backfiring.

17. The timing of the alerts is too coincidental
especially this latest one, the day after the Lamont/Lieberman race, and then Cheney, on cue, was smearing his drivel all over the network news with Lieberman in tow. A pathetically childish display.

Just a bit too eager, Karl! You're off your mark lately. Nervous about more court dates should the dems take over congress?

18. People are tired ot threats.
But I'm afraid a genuine, successful attack, one not thwarted, would send a lot of folks running to Daddy Puke.

I would hope the public would hold the Pukes accountable for failing to protect them, but I am not confident that would happen.

20. No Way, An Actual Attack Would Be The End For Them
Edited on Mon Aug-14-06 04:20 PM by Beetwasher
It would be undeniable that they are unable to keep us safe and are utter failures.

Now, they may USE another attack to implement all sorts of repression and essentially declare the constitution null and void, but from a PR standpoint it would be a disaster for them.

etc when I am polled.. The polls are bullshit, so I do whatever I can to skew them a bit here and there..

I especially say I am republican , so when I downgrade *² it packs a bit more whallop :)

24. If Bush did another terror attack everyone would blame him (&Cheney)
if someone else did another terrorist attack people would still blame Bush and Cheney. The turning point was Katrina. Bush hadn't bargained for a hurricane!
