Acetone+Hperioxide on a subway=diaster
Has it not occured to ANYONE namely those nimrods on the MSM and Godforbid homeland security pick up the slack that the chemicals could just as easily be carried aboard a train or a bus with even more lethal effectiveness?

I don't mean to hype this terror alert anymore than it already is but the current situation it yet one more example of how Bush Inc has completely and totally failed us. If it's not a train, it could be a bus or the shipping ports or whatever.

That is the key here, just like we watched that one trooper drive up and down that Oregon highway in Farenheit 9/11, the situation replays itself here. Is the Bush administration truly concerned about terrorism or are they simply biding their time until another spectacular attack occurs? Then, once again, manipulate the nation's rage that we had no idea that this could occur but by God we will bomb those murder's into the stone age.

Is it just me or are others picking up on this frightening scenario, all leading up to a full throttled attack on IRAN!

please discuss...so I's don't go insane

1. Our government doesn't care about actual terror threats.
Otherwise, they'd be taking precautions on ALL public transportation. What you've brought up isn't further hyping, it's common sense. These simple binary bombs could be used anywhere, not just on planes.

Terror = political gain for Bushco, and they've been milking it for 5 years.

They don't care about subways because it isn't owned by a corporation.
The main reason we are heckled at airports is because the CEO's are fearful for the bottom line.

3. I still have trouble believing that
The alleged British airplane bombers were seriously considering using TATP, at least in liquid form. Way too unstable a mixture to carry around safely. A person probably couldn't even take a taxi ride without the shit going off, it is that unstable.

And frankly, unless you really want to apply truly draconian measures, you aren't going to be able to stop every terrorist attack. Sadly, it seems as though that is exactly what Bushco wan't to do, continous and ongoing seizure of our civil liberities until they are all gone. And even then we won't be safe.

Rather than taking away our civil liberities, let us instead persue peace and justice in the world so that we minimize the amount of people who hate us. That would go a long way to alleviating the terorist threat.

12. You're making too much sense
If we all got along then people like our current government couldn't rule by fear, it's easier to steal during fear and chaos.

5. ulutimately, there is no way to prevent an attack anywhere
Edited on Mon Aug-14-06 01:14 PM by maxsolomon
as you mention, the ingredients for weapons are too readily available, the targets too numerous. you don't need chemicals; one fully automatic kalashnikov in a crowd could kill hundreds.

so concentrate efforts elsewhere:
- don't let likely attackers in the country - not that hard to do - arab males from 15 to 35 are 99.99% of the likely candidates.
- remove the source of the hate (a 100 year project, but it must be started)
- attempt to understand the motives of our enemies, and attack the theological basis of jihad - certainly we can scare up some muslim scholars to help construct theologically sound arguments against the imams & ayatollahs of al sadr's ilk - he's no rocket scientist. Allah & God - same diety. make a point of noting it.
- buy them off - clean water, power, sewage, paved roads, rail lines - not in arab lands, but in muslim lands where they'll have us - and then show the arabs we don't hate Allah.

14. overly broad generalization i admit
Edited on Mon Aug-14-06 03:10 PM by maxsolomon
of course, arab males are welcome to visit our wonderful country, to study & recreate, etc. blah blah blah. but understanding WHO that arab male is before they are issued a visa doesn't seem unreasonable. how many of the 9/11 hijackers were, say, 15 to 35 year old women from iceland?

i don't want to profile, of course, of course, but taking away a prepubescent girl's lip gloss, or strip searching granny, doesn't make much practical sense, that's for fucking sure.

16. From what I understand these bombs don't produce a huge
explosion. 10 years ago Yussef Rasan (the guy charged with the first WTC bombing) placed one liquid bomb under a airplane chair, when it exploded it killed a Japanese man in the chair but didn't bring down the plane. It seems that these alleged British terrorists planned to denote 3 bombs in each plane which would have had disasterous consequences.
