Remind them of Hurricane Katrina
I'm coming into the Bin Laden tape news late, having only heard about it at work, and having seen so many utterly freaked out by it.

Jesus. We had nuclear weapons pointed at us, the aim being utter obliteration, and I was fearful, but not in the way we are today.

If they think the government can keep them safe, I remind them of one thing: Hurricane Katrina. Terrorists don't give five days notice, out in the ocean, spinning. She came, she went, and she continues to destroy. And they did nothing, five days before she came, and a lifetime of legacy after she wreaked her havoc.

So if you still think the government can protect you against the bogeyman, I can't really get on that train with you.

Enjoy the fear.

2. If you have money..... they can protect you with the money taken
in taxes from those who don't (have money). Pity.

4. All the money in the world won't protect you....
... from a bomb at the Coach store while you shop.

Still, this is utterly ridiculous. A lifetime of fretting over nukes, and now I'm supposed to be concerned about some Taliban asscock terrorist wimp like Bin Laden? And I'm supposed to give credit to the President for keeping me safe, and, I suppose, for keeping the moon from falling from the sky?

What the hell happened to the big, bad-ass country I was once proud to be a part of?

They're all a bunch of damned panty-waists. Hurricane Katrina. They can't protect me from wind and sea surge, let alone a random bomb.

And wind gives five days notice.

5. Be my guest
I've had better posts.

I'm just a little emotional about the comical farce my country has become in the face of terrorism.

Fucking sad, that's what it is. Sad, duplicitous and ignorant.

8. I agree 100% This Administration can't (or won't) protect us from
threats that come with a warning, such as Hurrican Katrina.

Good reminder. Thanks.

9. well said!
if the government won't act to save her citizens in a "natural" disaster - does anyone really think they can or will do anything about any other disaster?

your well being ain't in the governments best interests...if it was, government would act accordingly.

10. More people were lost by Katrina than 911 (3000)
And that, after the whole Homeland Security readiness.....
