Mystery 9/11 Rescuer Reveals Himself
For years, authorities wondered about the identity of a U.S. Marine who appeared at the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001, helped find a pair of police officers buried in the rubble, then vanished.

Even the producers of the new film chronicling the rescue, "World Trade Center," couldn't locate the mystery serviceman, who had given his name only as Sgt. Thomas.

The puzzle was finally solved when one Jason Thomas, of Columbus, Ohio, saw a TV commercial for the new movie a few weeks ago as he relaxed on his couch. His eyes widened as he saw two Marines with flashlights, hunting for survivors atop the smoldering ruins.

"That's us. That's me!" thought Thomas, who lived in Long Island during the attacks and now works as an officer in Ohio's Supreme Court.

5. um...i don't mean to be picky or petty but didn't anyone from the
film talk to the one guy who was rescued, or anyone else that was out there helping--did not one person say anything about a *black* marine? i think that's terrible that this big deal movie, trying to be true to life apparently (i haven't seen it), has a white actor playing the part of a black hero.

maybe if we lived in a perfect world...but we don't. and i think it would have been a good thing to show audiences that this hero is a black man.

(why didn't the other marine he was with mention this to anyone? -- why didn't the people working on the film do their homework?)

6. You're not being picky or petty, it's being lazy and not doing your
background checks. I think they knew the Marine was black but wanted a nice round-eyed white guy. Haven't seen the movie nor do I care to. Seeing the trailers and the not so shocked look on the faces as they see the jets ram into the Towers is very bad acting. Come on, that was horrifying, just horrifying and these actors look like they're seeing an airshow. Cage....? What a lousy actor. His only good movie was "Raising Arizona" and maybe "Valley Girl".

8. Gotta agree with you on Cage
And now he is ruining just about every other movie made. I can't escape from the guy and his pathetic acting and dumb look on his face. Somebody help me.
