May I ask a favor of you all?

I'm enrolled in a contest to get a short story published by amazon. I'm not doing too badly, but the more people who read my story and rate it (highly, I hope) the better for my chances. I can't say I NEED it, but exposure is an author's white whale, I'm afraid. I'll probably spend my lifetime chasing it.

I write futuristic urban fantasy or, if you'd rather, paranormal science fantasy. Either term will work. My novels are well-reviewed, which is nice, and I do have a small cadre of fans out there.

But I'd like to ask you, my fellow DUers, to hop over to gather.com and check out the story, and rate it up if you will. I posted in the Lounge and got one good vote and one smartass vote. Someone must've rated it a 1 or something, because it dropped from a score of 9 out of 10 to 8.3 in an instant.

My guess is that I was freeped. It would explain the lack of personal courage to actually comment...just a very negative vote that hurt my overall score.

I'm not asking anyone to rate it highly if they don't particularly care for it. But I'm pretty sure it deserves more than a 1...

I'd appreciate it more than I can say.

But done, I thought it was a very good story fwiw, Saje. Freepers just must be desperate little people, think about that pathetic editorial where the lady told what they did to her when she wrote of the tragedy of her brother & his wife being gunned down in in LA.

Good thing Ethan wears silk boxers. IMO, they're slightly better protection against birdshot. (Yes, I caught the line about nothing to fear about shotguns unless you were shot at close range in the face. But then, he's a werewolf... :evilgrin: )
