Could someone explain the Bin Laden & Bush connection to me?
I've read in many articles that the Bin Laden Family and the Bush Family have been doing business for years.. Could someone with greater knowledge of the subject than I, explain the connection to me?

4. Thank you for the link, I'll check it out.. I'm really interested in this
all the sudden. I have a family member who is in Dallas right now, and he claims there are Bin Laden Construction signs everywhere. Actual company signs, and on "Adopt a Highway" signs all over the highway.. Just peaked my interest..

funds in 92. The same year they gave Harken Oil Company over a million dollars when Junior's company was in trouble and Poppy was prez.

Here is where I first read about the connections...

12. It's a pretty good tale about the old school culture of corruption.

The GOPers have been stealing and lying for years! The difference now is, that they think they have the country in such a bind that they can come right out in the open now and shit all over the rule of law. The bad thing is, that so far they have gotten away with it.

The voters cannot check Bush's abuse of power anymore than congress, or the courts can now, because thanks to Diebold and SCOTUS the GOP owns the election process too now along with all three branches of the federal government.

6. Read (the late) James Hatfield's "Fortunate Son"
I picked up a copy at Half Price Books, after it had been removed from "regular" book stores. It's now available again.

The info Georgie's problems with coke & the Air National Guard got lots of publicity. But a good bit of the book is a detailed, referenced history of the Bush family's business dealings. And the Bin Laden's were involved. The book was written long before 9/11/2001.

(Amazon.com's listing for the book allows text searching.)

7. This may help a bit with background, or not...
http://www.gurus.com/dougdeb/politics/TS101.html

What was the purpose of 9/11?

No points for: “To intimidate the United States into retreating from the Middle East.” If the US had immediately decided to wash its hands of the Middle East, a variety of secular gangsters like Mubarak and Musharraf and Hussein would have started fighting it out among themselves. The odds were small that an Allah-fearing Caliph would arise from such a struggle. Whether the eventual outcome would have been good or bad for the United States is debatable, but it would have been terrible for Bin Laden.

Like all attacks in the bell-curve-inverting stage, the purpose of 9/11 was to provoke a military response. Prior to the invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq, most Muslims had never seen a direct victim of the United States. Many have claimed that the Israelis are really American proxies, and so the Palestinians are victims of America. (Some have gone so far as to claim that the Serbians were American proxies, but that was always far-fetched.) But proxies can never compete with real live American soldiers. And despite the occasional bombing of Lebanon or Syria or even Iraq, it is hard to paint the Israelis as anything more than a regional threat. Pakistanis and Indonesians may sympathize with the Palestinians in a distant sort of way, but they can’t raise a credible fear of Jewish tanks rolling down the streets of Islamabad or Jakarta.

Now, thanks to President Bush and the magic of al-Jazeera, every Muslim with working eyesight has seen Muslim women and children killed or horribly disfigured by Americans. And Americans are everywhere; any one of them might be working for the CIA. American troops and ships and aircraft have a global reach. No matter where in the Dar al-Islam you may be, you could be under American attack in a matter of hours. Those screaming people on TV could be you and your family.

15. What happened to my GD bookmarks? Anybody know?
They are all missing! :(

Anyway, google James Bath & Bush. Bath was Bush's buddy that he got thrown out of pilot training with, and he worked for the bin Ladens.

16. Well,
Here's the deal, as far as I can tell:

The Bush family is an oil family with a lot of interests in Saudi Arabia. The bin Laden family is one of the richest, most prominent families in Saudi Arabia. They basically run the largest construction business in Saudi Arabia. Pretty much any Americans who do business in that country end up doing business with the bin Laden family at one point or another. One think to keep in mind, however, is that we're not taling about the American concept of a "family." It isn't three or four people. It's about 300 bin Laden half-cousins thrice removed, etc, etc. The Saudi "Royal Family" for instance is comprised of thousands of people.

Anyway, it isn't a direct link to Osama, but you can certainly see in Bush's actions a predilection for protecting the Saudi interests of his family (and thus those of the bin Laden family) but it hardly amounts to anything more than economic self-interest on the part of Bush. Of course, some of the folks around here with too much time on their hands and not very much understanding of Arab culture have twisted this episode around to make it look like Bush was funding/supporting terror, which simply isn't true. At least not explicitly true. He certainly did them a favor by calling off the FBI with respect to investigations involving Saudis (and thus bin Ladens and others) in order to kiss ass to the Saudi royal family and maintain the Bush family economic interests in that country.
