Hezbollah fighters emerge from rubble - Excellent read

snip

And Hussein Kalash, burly, hard and confident, offered three words that defined the war for Khiam's defenders, the Hezbollah fighters. "We're still here," he said.

snip

Three fighters carried out the first of the wounded, an elderly woman with a stare so blank it seemed lifeless. Flies gathered unnoticed on her still body. The fighters clambered across the rubble and past a few unspent bullets, pieces of shrapnel the size of a fist, a charred bed spring and the twisted fender of a vehicle. Before them was a blackened car that looked like a tin can ripped open.

A wounded fighter followed. His head was bandaged, and an IV was hooked to his arm.

snip

A few of the fighters were exuberant, filled with bravado from a battle they clearly believed they had won.

"We don't want it to end," Kalash said. He pointed toward the Israeli border. "We want to keep going, all the way inside."

1. Wow, I'm actually surprised the Amal militia was in Khiam with Hezbollah
I had assumed Hezbollah was alone against IDF forces.

3. Is Amal strong? How many more people does it have?

6. Amal is one of the larger militias, veterans of the Lebanese Civil War
Among Shi'ites, it's perhaps the most powerful organization outside of Hezbollah although they're technically supposed to be "disarmed" according to the Taif Agreement that ended the civil war. They've been largely uninvolved with Hezbollah as far as fighting Israel, but I guess some of them "rearmed" when Israel decided to invade again.

4. Yes, and you know these people are going to get more weapons
missiles...etc. dig more bunkers...etc. They are not going anywhere, I hope fighting does not break out again.

5. I would agree, I, too, hope they think twice before starting something
else or even trying this again but, given their penchant for not learning life's lessons, I am not hopeful.

7. what exactly did Israel or Bush lose in their grimey wars?
dead soldiers and civilians?

plenty more where they came from.

Do not think of these reptiles having any human emotions or care for anything other than their agenda.
