31. The GOP provoked the 9-11 attacks and failed to defend Against them!
Edited on Tue Aug-15-06 08:32 PM by liberaldemocrat7
9-11 appeared as blowback as a result of secret US - Taliban foreign policy that went awry between Jan 2001 and July 2001.

Bush had an invasion plan of Aghanistan on the shelf before July 2001. The Cheney Energy task force involved oil and oil pipelines and Afghanistan and Iraq.

Where Republicans tread, innocent people end up dead.

Ever since 9-11-2001 the Republicans have had their hair on fire attempting to shift attention and blame away from them for their weakness and failure on national defense.

THEY FAILED.

That was my comment...other than I will NOT be supporting this person.

I watched your pathetic commercial in which you split screened Hillary Clinton and Osama bin Laden (a tried and true technique of right wing candidates with nothing else to offer but fear). In it, you have the nerve to say you won't play politics with security. What a despicable thing to do. The republicans failed our national security and allowed us to be attacked on 9/11. The republicans have failed our national security by not implementing the suggestions of the 9/11 committee and the republicans continue to play politics with national security by running shitty ads like yours. Have you no shame sir? Have you no decency? The answers to these questions are obvious. Start writing your concession speech now because Hillary is going to kick your pathetic lying ass in November.

I think your ad about Hillary Clinton with Osama is disgusting. You should be ashamed of yourself. You republicans trying to associate Democrats with helping terrorists is getting REAL desperate since it was on Bush's watch that 9-11 happened. Maybe you should have an ad that explains the relationship that the Bush family has with the Bin Ladin family.

11. I'm no Hillary fan, but this is despicable . . .
there are truly no depths to which BushCo minions will not descend in their pursuit of power -- both gaining it and keeping it . . .

which, frankly, is why I'm not at all confident about our chances in the November elections . . . the ultimate depth is rigging elections, and they've proven that they're quite willing to do this -- and quite able as well . . .

saying "Here is the video of blablah's most shocking attack ad, yet. If I had the authority, we'd have found and captured Osama by now. Are you tired of your local politicians comparing everyone who disagrees with their FAILED policies and tired distractions with OSAMA BIN LADEN? Makes you wonder why the Bush Admin & Republican controlled Cungress would dare mention the THUG who attacked America on THEIR WATCH and whom they then, apparently, gave a free pass."

" My opponent evidently hopes you'll forget this appaling ad one day--just as the Bush ADministration has forgotten the Anthrax mailer and OBL."

17. I just called, and talked to a guy for a while.
Edited on Tue Aug-15-06 02:58 PM by americanstranger
Somehow, I kept my cool and engaged the guy in a pretty long conversation regarding the ad.

I told him that an ad like that has no place in NY politics and should be shelved. He started out by saying they've gotten a lot of positive response from the ad, but as the conversation went on he sounded more than a little sheepish about the ad itself. I reminded him that it was okay for his candidate to go after Sen. Clinton on her votes and her record - but that using the Osama picture was way over the top.

He said that if Sen. Clinton were president and she 'gutted the NSA wiretapping provisions, we'd be sitting in shock right now watching 4,000 people die over the Atlantic Ocean.'

I laughed out loud - then told him that it was British intelligence and law enforcement that cracked the case. He told me that I didn't know that for sure, because I didn't know about how NSA was wiretapping in Europe.

I told him that that was the problem - that nobody knows what the NSA was doing. I asked him if that didn't bother him at all, and he didn't answer.

After I spoke my piece, the guy actually thanked me for calling! It was pretty weird.

20. Makes me SICK
I think that 9/11 was a gift to Duh-bya and his RW buddies. They could use the excess fear to get themselves "elected" for the next couple of election cycles. Whenever they needed to really manipulate the public to vote for them, they could pull out OBL and put their enemies next to him.

There's nothing wrong with attacking Senator Clinton's voting record, as others have said. The problem is when you use this kind of hateful, divisive crap to get yourself elected. I hope this person loses not because I know who they are and don't like their voting record, but on principle. Anyone who uses that kind of sick shit to get elected doesn't deserve to be elected.

And they say thay WE play politics with national security. HAH!

"I am truly not that concerned about him."
- G.W. Bush, repsonding to a question about bin Laden's whereabouts,

32. We need to start resorting to verbal abuse.
Edited on Tue Aug-15-06 08:28 PM by kgfnally
We need to give them what they've been giving us.

We need to call that deluded idiot in their office, whatever deluded fucking idiot staffer it is, and tell them THEY are fucking deluded idiots. Personally, as in THEY, the STAFFER.

What we need to do is make it so hard, so very very hard, to get through the day without crying, that they won't work for these people. We need to make them feel HORRIBLE for what they're doing.

THEY are responsible, too. They, the staffers, for working for these... people. THEY support them. THEY prop them up.

DESTROY the support system. Make them shut their lines down. Make them metaphorically bleed to death.

WE. NEED. TO. STOP. BEING. NICE.

WE. NEED. TO. STOP. BEING. "HONORABLE".

THEY will take advantage of those things to bully us to death. I know bullies. They don't stop until they're MADE to stop, and they make sure you have to break rules to do it.

So------- BREAK THE RULES. ***DONT*** BE CIVIL. ***DON'T*** be nice.

Make the staffers cry

BE an ASSHOLE.

What have we to lose at this point? Respect?

WHAT respect?

37. Hardly a surprise
In the words of Elvis Costello: "I used to be disgusted but now I'm just amused". It's difficult to find yet more outrage for the latest GOP travesty when there's been so many already. Over the last six years, the GOP have proved they will go to any legnths (and I do mean "any", the word is an absolute) to stay in power. Smears, fear, intimidation. If they could get away with it, Rove would happily order every Democrat voter into gas chambers. I'm not one of those who thinks the US government conspired to cause 9/11 but the current power structure would have had no problem at all doing so given the virtual carte blanche it's given their guy.

We need to stop being surprised at this shit. There is no depth, no moral low and no atrocity which the current GOP power players wouldn't stop to. There is literally nothing they will not do to stay in power. If that means smearing Hillary (who I don't even like that much), no problem. If that means blatant vite-rigging, fine and if that doesn't work, I have a horrible suspician you'll be looking at a legal or possibly even military coup, all dressed up in phrases like "we have to impose martial law to stop the terrahists". In the end, it may take open insurrection to get the bastards out so stop being shocked at a smear ad. It's happened before, it'll happen again and things are going to get much, much worse.
