bin Laden's 'truce offer'
Ya know... The more I think about it, the more I don't get it. It's not like the insurgency in Iraq would stand down just because Osama bin Laden told them to. He does not control much of anything happening in Iraq.

that idea.

2. I hope the idea of a 'truce' will have some legs.

6. Why?
What will a truce accomplish? Particularly since they have already said that this won't apply to their attempts to attack us.

3. bin Ladin ain't gonna offer the Great Satan no truce. It would
be totally against his principals and the principals he's set for the defeat of the idolatrous, infidel West.

The bin Ladin stories get goofier and goofier everytime he 'surfaces'. Which is everytime bush** needs to distract everyone's attention.

4. I think it's more about future attacks
The idea being Al Qaeda wouldn't attack the US if we had a truce. What bothers me, aside from the fact that I no longer believe Osama Bin Laden is a real person, real terrorist, or "real" anything besides an actor who used to do Shakespeare in the Park in Hoboken NJ, is the whole "We don't negotiate with terrorists" thing. oh, yeah, great, let's be big tough cowboys and MISS THE POINT. Sometimes, a person or culture can't admit defeat and wants a more dignified way to give up. Why coudn't the US just go along with it, and say "yeah, sure, big tough guy who lives in a cave and hasn't done anything to terrorize anyone but the bats in 4 years - yeah, OK, let's have a "truce". we give up. Please continue to NOT terrorize us in the future."

The current strategy seems to be "make the terrorists as insulted and angry as possible." Let's bomb their innocent families, and run tanks over their holy land like we own the world - that'll make them behave."

5. I'd like to hear more about the truce...
Let's hear what the truth offer is.

We can stick to "we do not negotiate with terrorists" for now, but let's listen to what the truce is before we close our minds to it.

Of course, if this is a govt conspiracy, of course we will never hear or see what the "truce" is.

7. What I get out of the "offer" is this...
Him saying that makes the Americans more defiant that we can make Iraq work and be more supportive of our efforts there.

We'd react with our chests puffed out, angry that he'd even suggest such a thing...

Sort of like with the French. They could be 100% right but our approach is "Fuck the French" so we purposely do what they don't like anyways just to be defiant.

I am convinced at this stage that OBL is a CIA operative. I never really thought of myself as an MIHOP/LIHOP person but the timing of these Bin Laden tapes are too fucking convenient and the messages that are meant to stir up certain American emotions seem to fall right in line with what the Bush Administration wants, WAY too often.

They never will catch him because they are not looking for him. If they catch him the war on terror ends in most ALL American minds and then they can not continue this unadulterated power grab they are currently on.

8. Okay, aside from the idea that this has to be bogus
(and do you think that there's anybody in the Bush misAdministration who understands Arabic, spoken or written?),

It will be played as OBL is on the run and losing . . .

So, the "truce" negotiated when Japan surrendered unconditionally to the US could be considered that we lost WWII?
