Bill Clinton "leaps to Bush's defense" on HIV/AIDS
Edited on Tue Aug-15-06 04:22 PM by Bluebear
TORONTO (Reuters) - Former President Bill Clinton leaped to the defense of the Bush administration's
AIDS efforts on Tuesday, saying the United States is spending more to fight HIV than any other government....

Such support for the conservative Bush government was unexpected at the 16th International Conference on AIDS, a meeting held every two years where activists join researchers, funding agencies and aid groups to discuss the pandemic and, usually, denounce most governments for doing too little.

Clinton, whose foundation negotiates cheaper prices for drugs and HIV tests in developing nations, said PEPFAR has done a lot of good, despite a requirement that 33 percent of prevention funding be spent on abstinence-only programs.

Many aid groups complain the policy has taken cash away from programs that can help people.

I always knew that in order to be a successful politician one had to become somewhat duplicitous, but the Democrats who I used to respect for their "love of country" ... their submissive behavior fills me with immeasurable sorrow as they fight each other and the whorish M$M for the coveted Neo-Con Rulers' Tummy Rubs. :grr: :puke:

4. Ludicrous headline.
Watch the actual event on the C-SPAN site (Clinton with Bill Gates, AIDS conference), yesterday and see what both Bills had to say about PEPFAR. More worthwhile than further salivating over this article.

6. We're not FIGHTING AIDS, we're SPREADING AIDS...
stupid Condom-free programs around the world are encouraging global genocide.

I'm losing my patience for the Clintons.

7. I recently heard a CBC documentary on this on Radio Canada
Intl....I believe it is Uganda where rates of AIDS infection dropped dramatically with their own ABC approach--there was lots of advertising about condoms and they were easily available.

Then Busho comes in and puts the "abstinence" business on full-throttle OR ELSE you lose the money. Guess what????? Harder to get condoms, no ads...and AIDS is soaring again.

Brazil decided on NOT taking money...they're doing well.

8. Clinton's sticking up for the United States. The article has a misleading
headline.
