George Allen and his Family Values
I for one am SO GLAD that George Allen called this young man from the Web campaign makaka however you spell it - because I believe we should put a fork in him - his Presidential aspirations are GONE. I hope it will do the same for his re-election to the Senate. Just for the record I'm not happy that he insulted this young man - but I'm sure glad it is going to ruin his political career at least nationally.

George Allen's moher is French Tunisian - and apparently - while George was at her knee she passed on her family values to her son by teaching him the language - makaka is the French Tunisian equivalent to the N word.

There is NO DOUBT in my mind that he knew exactly what he was saying and now he is lying his ass off about it....

Buh bye George - don't let the door hit you in the ass on your way out!!!

5. No...read about it in this AP article...
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060815/ap_on_re_us/allen_campaign_volunteer

"Allen has been accused of racial insensitivity before. He wore a Confederate flag pin in his high school yearbook photo, used to keep a Confederate flag in his living room, a noose in his law office and a picture of Confederate troops in his governor's office, but has said he has grown since then."

6. I have to think people didn't know about it
I lived in VA and did not know it - of course I never voted for the ass either for Governor or Senate and until this recent incident I never knew how freaking racist he was - including the noose.

You know I can't help but wonder if Mrs. Allen's term of endearment for the black athelets George Allen SR coached was makaka - I have to believe that his formative years were full of racist BS and man how disgusting....but one is not born racist - you have to learn to hate.

2. It was only a matter of time with allen. He is so used to talking shit
in private, it was inevitable that he would get caught while in the spotlight. It comes as NO surprise that after getting caught, he demonstrated what a coward he is by trying to deny it and instead made up a stupid excuse "I think I said mohawk". Mohawk my ass, you are shit allen.

10. OK it's a bit more complicated than that
Allen's mother immigrated from French Tunisia, and was "Italian, French and a little Spanish" and according to Allen, was imprisoned in a Nazi concentration camp during World War II.<5> According to Allen's sister Jennifer, their mother "prided herself for being un-American. ... She was ashamed that she had given up her French citizenship to become a citizen of a country she deemed infantile." The mother was also Jewish.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Felix_Allen

First the word "makaka" doesn't exist in French

it's "macaque" and pronounced "makak" and words ending in "aque" in French are often pejorative, specially in slang.

the latin name of genus of the apes is macaca but it's not widely known

"macaque" in French is a generel demeaning word that can be used about anybody even white. For example "vieux macaque" is quite common and the equivalent of "old ugly monkey". But it is used frequently as a racial slur against any non-white race. So to say that it is the equivalent of the N-word is wrong. It's the word "monkey" used in a very derogatory often racial way. The French could call Bush "le singe" but not "macaque".

It really doesn't matter if Allen knew the real meaning of the word of not. You don't call anybody, even an opponent, by a a nickname you don't understand, specially if the person is coloured. It shows only poor judgment.

13. In that the N word is a racial slur
than I would say it is an equivalent that we as Americans, who had never heard the word macaque, can clearly understand. Given the fact that macaque is a Fench word - and that apparently George Allen speaks fluid French I will never believe he did not know what it meant - I don't believe in coincidences.
