You want to bring out the big guns.
Surströmming will do the job.
Surströmming, for those who haven't had the...pleasure, is Baltic herring that is salted and left to ferment until it sours and it's really, really stinky. It's put in cans were it continues to ferment and if you are unfortunate the can will explode before you open it to eat, sharing the pungent aroma with everyone.
I am convinced that this is the dish that inspired the Vikings to explore new lands...they were trying to escape the smell.
Cheers

14. I know of this stuff, and the real problem is... |

the can exploding as you open it-- covering you and your companions with rotten fish.
My theory has been that it was Viking women who sent them off to sea after eating this swill, and told them not to come back until they didn't smell like whale puke.

..that you know of this stuff, it's a horrible experience.
Your theory sounds good too, I'd certainly boot out someone smelling that foul.

better food can't remember whay it's called but "fermented" shark which is allowed to stew in its own juices: blood urea, aromatic and tasty. If that wasn't enough to them go out a viking, i'm not sure what was.

22. Have you ever tried Hákarl? |
|
Edited on Thu Aug-17-06 02:01 AM by Wonk
Sounds like the preparation is similar, but it's shark meat, not herring. The smell is very much like that of Ammonia. From what I've heard it absolutely requires a Brennivin chaser. I've never tried it myself.
edit: I should have read downthread a bit more before replying :/
further edit: I've never been there, but at least 4 of my ancestors that I know of came over from Iceland to America in the 1870s. :hi:

11. *chagrined* I've never read "Lederer and Burdick" |
|
I just thought that the term "sheeple" was self-explanatory for anyone who swallowed the hook, line, and sinker of the right wing's line. Sure, I'm biased, but it all just seems so painfully OBVIOUS to me. Maybe it's my belief in the Scientific Method and critical thinking skills.
I just tend to go with what the evidence points me to, regardless of unsubstantiated claims, and that usually points to Democrats.

Admittedly, I am an asshole. A partison asshole, to boot. Never have I suggested that terrorists target or be targeted against my political enemies. Hopefully this does not exemplify the attitude of the radical right, although in my heart I know it does.

"Ban all moslims from flights for a period of three years, if terrorism incidents are not reduced, we can all apolize for their inconvenience."
Sure, we'll take your advice, pal. After all, you present it with such excellent spelling and grammar.
Not to mention logic.

Let's not criticize them for the fact that they can't type. Many DUers have the same problem. Including me :)
Why can't we criticize them for the fact that they're fucking idiots, and not harp on their typing skills?

I type, then I post, and then I realize what a moran I am and edit it, the way god intended the Internet(s) to be. Perfect the first time and even more perfecter the second.

it's been a while since I ventured over there. I laughed until tears came down my face. All of them asking 'what can you do with a screwdriver and vaseline' just struck my funnybone tonight.
Thanks for the laugh.
