Was anyone else disappointed in Jon Stewart's
interview of Gov. Kean last night? It's not that I expected him to bring up anything about LIHOP or MIHOP. I didn't expect him to do that. But his interview was very weak; he seemed uncharacteristically uncomfortable interviewing Kean IMO.

I guess I wonder why he didn't ask about:
-- the reasons the Commission didn't investigate the collapse of Building 7?
-- the blatant lies told by DoD, NORAD and the FAA during their testimony? (which Kean and Hamilton write about in their book)
-- the refusal of the Justice Department to investigate those lies? (Also disclosed in their book)
-- or why the Commission did not delve into the many questions that remain unanswered by The Family Steering Committee (http://www.911independentcommission.org/questions.html)

JS can do better than he did last night. Anyone else?

1. Well, I think it's also important that the commission's recommendations...
haven't been carried out by this administration.

Also, such malfeasance is a lot easier for people to get their heads around than LIHOP/MIHOP

10. True, but that's old news.
The real recent bombshell in Kean and Hamilton's book is the disclosure of the repetitive lies during testimony by DoD, NORAD and FAA officials. I think questions about that could have been asked without any risk. And it pertains to the book.

all of that is also old news because now we have Jon Benet's alleged killer to chew on for awhile.

On edit: to include "alleged"

2. Well, we have to remember it's a comedy show.
Maybe Stewart wanted to delve into those uncharted waters - there certainly wasn't enough time to do it. Could account for his uncomfortable stance. Those questions are best left for hours and hours of grilling, which I hope comes to pass in my lifetime.

6. Bringing it up there might also expose it to ridicule.
Really, one doesn't need allegations as grave as those to be brought up on a comedy show. The audience is at risk of not taking it seriously.

and "crank phone calls". How does asking Kean about excerpts of his own book expose Stewart to ridicule? Kean and Hamilton are the ones who wrote about their concern regarding the repetitive and ever-changing lies that the NORAD, FAA and DoD official told under sworn testimony. What is there not to take seriously in that? I mean we are talking about our nations air defense.

19. The NORAD and FAA stuff are important and legitmate concerns...
that need to be addressed.

However, if Kean also talks about Invisble Jewish Elves(TM) in The Twin Towers, then that just makes him look like a kook, and makes his other concerns seem trivial.

20. Oh please!
No one is saying anything about "Invisible Jewish Elves in the Twin Towers" other than you. The purpose of that kind of rhetoric really seems unnecessary in this discussion. It's sole purpose is to discourage people from asking really legimate questions about what occured that day. So, please, don't tarnish this thread with that crap.

21. The "controlled demolition" theory is almost always paired with I.J.E.
And it all just de-legitimizes efforts to uncover the 9/11 lies.

22. I have read extensively about 9-11
and I consider The Family Steering Committee to be true heroes. If I had one ounce of their courage and fortitude, then I would feel eternally grateful. Of course I, too, have have read the different theories about LIHOP and MIHOP. Never, in any of that reading material have I ever seen anything about "Invisible Jewish Elves". I'm not sure where you lurk to get such ridiculous information. But you may want to try looking at sites like http://911research.wtc7.net/index.html or http://www.pentagonresearch.com for a more balanced examination regarding the events on that day.

4. Jon Stewart is a comedian
and it's incredibly difficult to create entertainment out of a tragedy like 911 and not be offensive at the same time. Stewart managed to get the basic message out, that Bushco is not doing it's job, and still keep it fairly light. Stewart did a great job.

9. Huh?
Last night he joked about how he was too unimportant for Kean to have known him during his years as Governor. Nor did I not get the impression that Kean was one of Jon's hearoes.

23. Hmmm...
Haven't located it yet, but I just watched a repeat of Stewart's Kean interview and he, himself stated that he once worked for the governor, although at a level where he was unlikely to be remarked, and then turned it into a joke by hinting that it was as one of Kean's litter bearers.

24. Thanks for telling me.
I erased my copy after watching it last night, so I appreciate you taking a look at it again. Actually, that really explains a lot. It kind of surprises me that JS thinks so highly of Kean. But then, I don't understand the fascination with McCain either.

Thanks again for your trouble and for clearing that up for me EST.

Jon got Kean to state that the commission's investigation was thwarted at every turn by the Administration. Why didn't Jon ask him "Why would the Administration do that?"

There is only so much you can do in such a short time and the Commission was packed with guys from both parties who have a vested interest in the truth's never coming out!

Edited on Thu Aug-17-06 02:10 PM by gatorboy
I fully expected something about this to be brought up in the conversation and was pretty surprised that it didn't.

I mean, sure, it's a comedy show. But if you're going to have guests of this caliber on, at least ask them something with a little meat on it. And if you don't think it makes for funny television, invite Carrot Top on next time.

26. Gee whiz, comedian on fake news show does an interview
with Governor Kean. He has five minutes, so he doesn't ask everything he could. On Sunday Mike Wallace, so called prestigious journalist does an interview with the President of Iran on 60 Minutes for about twenty minutes. The Iranian president wipes the floor with Wallace, who doesn't seem to notice.

I think Jon Stewart did a better job, IMHO.
