Former CIA contractor is found guilty of beating Afghan man to death

RALEIGH, N.C. — A former CIA contractor accused of severely beating an Afghan detainee with a flashlight during questioning was found guilty Thursday of assault.

The beaten detainee later died, but David Passaro, 40, wasn't charged in his death. The federal jury found him guilty after about 8 hours of deliberations of three counts of simple assault and one count of assault resulting in serious bodily injury.

Passaro faces up to 11 1/2 years in prison. No sentencing date was immediately set.

1. This makes me SO sad.

As it turns out, there's a company called "Titan" that is located near me in the San Diego County area (just south of me) in SoCal. It's contract was just renewed. Per its website, it is involved in "intelligence gathering." It contributes to my local Congressman's coffers (Darrell Issa's). It's employees have been accused of the brutal torture of at least one Iraqi (that I know of).

I'm curious about David Passaro's employer - oh, it was the CIA (direct employment to be a brutal tortuer)!
