Why NO ONE should pay any attention to the polls in CT
Edited on Thu Aug-17-06 03:45 PM by Atman
The Republicans are so shameless, so hellbent on Joe getting elected, that they're tripping all over themselves to endorse Joe over their own Repubican candidate. The Republicans will be doing whatever is necessary to get Joe elected.

Now, swallow your pride and good sense and imagine yourself a republican for just a moment. Susie Pollster approaches you at the grocery conducting a poll. Do you answer that you support the crooked gambler, Schlesinger, who enjoys all of 4% approval? Or Ned? Or Joe? Seriously...which way would you answer this poll. The republicans will say and do anything at this point. But Connecticut is a very, very blue state, and I have no doubt it will remain blue in November. And by "blue," I mean, we will not elect a Republican Senator. Even if he has a parenthetical D next to his name.

2. However.....
If Lieberman sucks up all the repub votes, and still manages to get a few percentage in votes from Dems who still support him, then he'll edge out Lamont.

The repubs know that if they toss aside their own candidate, and support Lieberman, they have a chance. He's going to get some Democrat votes, whether anyone on DU likes it or not.

I still think that Lamont is going to have a bigger challenge winning in November than he did this month. He only had to win over some Democrat voters, but in November he needs to win over almost all of them to have a chance.

5. Which makes me wonder...

...what kind of mayhem might be possible if people were to volunteer for the Schleisinger campaign, and use it to attack Joe from the right.

3. I think polls are the most useless things in the world anyway
They annoy me no end....Its really just a way of biasing public opinion and they are all waaaay skewed to the right anyway.
