It's like driving, a privilege, not a right. They can make you wear a seatbelt, have insurance, inspect your vehicle at any time, pull you over on suspicion, etc and so on.

The founders had no idea we would have the means to communicate in such ways.

Flying is a privilege, so they can search you, take your items, etc and so on.

You don't have to own a phone. The amish don't. If you choose to own something they monitor that would your choice.

Why do they need a warrant, your calls are carried over public property, easements, private lines and if they intercept the call at a point not in your home, then what is the problem?

And think of the health care costs we can save. Like those employers who can fire you for smoking at home because it raises their costs, not stopping terrorists and those who want to do others harm in general could cost people who pay for health care a lot more, we can't have that.

Trust me, this is what we are going to hear as this case slithers through the courts. privilege vs rights and what is covered. If the SC rules on it this way, I won't be surprised....

2. Awwwww, cmon :)
MY feeling on it is, If they want to listen to our conversations, we should be allowed to listen to theirs as well - since we EMPLOY them, and we see all the ways employers can see your emails, record calls, etc.

The govt's calls are carried over airwaves and wires on public/private property. So what they do we should be able to monitor as well :)
