http://www.ontheissues.org/Social/George_Allen_Corporations.htmVoted NO on repealing tax subsidy for companies which move US jobs offshore.
Amendment to repeal the tax subsidy for certain domestic companies which move manufacturing operations and American jobs offshore.Rated 100% by the US COC, indicating a pro-business voting record.http://www.ontheissues.org/Senate/George_Allen.htmhttp://www.internetnews.com/bus-news/article.php/3331671Q: Typically, as public policy, both Democrats and Republicans are free-traders. How much of the anti-offshoring talk coming from the Democrats is political election year rhetoric?
They don't have a big solution to it other than punish those companies. I would rather see us address what taxes, what regulations, what policies do we need to improve so we can be more competitive -- I think Americans can compete with anyone -- but we can't just shut down or turn this into an isolationist country. It is a concern and it is one that I think ought to get us looking at how to make America better rather than trying to punish the companies. There's only one thing that can make America more competitive to match the quality of the garbage being made offshore: Eliminate healthcare, lower wages far below the standard of living levels, et al.
And since companies MADE the cost of living of which we have to survive in, they should be held to some sort of accountability. Or are executives immune from punishment, let me count the ways they already are (and that requires a thread of its own).
http://blog.nam.org/archives/2006/03/report_from_ame_20.phpHe got questions on regulatory and legal reform, H1B visas ("If they get a diploma here, stick a visa right on it", he said). And most damningly about this two-faced anti-American coward:http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1626633/postsU.S. Sen. George Allen, R-Va., has co-sponsored a bill offered by Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, that seeks to promote employer access to skilled employees. The Securing Knowledge, Innovation and Leadership Bill expands the number of visas allowed for high-tech workers educated in the United States who are employed as part of the H1-B visa program.
"I want the United States to be the world capital of innovation. And to achieve that goal, we must adapt, innovate and compete by allowing them to attract highly skilled individuals so that they can become fully productive citizens," said Allen. The responses are rather a good read, I must say. Nice to know people on BOTH sides of the aisle recognize what is going on, how America is being put down the toilet, and understand why kids of today no longer give a fuck (amongst other things).
Those sites have more information... but it's interesting how one can be an anti-American racist and then ask the same people he's calling a bunch of racial slurs to do ther work most of us here in America now are more than capable of doing.
