Classic Quote from President Clinton, re: The Politics of Fear
I mentioned this quote in another thread here on DU, but I thought in light of the current climate, it deserves its own thread.

This is a classic quote from President Clinton on the politics of fear.

He said this while on the campaign trail stumping for Kerry/Edwards in 2004:

"One of Clinton's laws of politics is this: If one candidate's trying to scare you, and the other one's trying to get you to think; if one candidate's appealing to your fears, and the other one's appealing to your hopes; you better vote for the person who wants you to think and hope."

1. i go to the one who wants me to think and hope. bush did
not keep us safe as he proclaimed during the election. terrorists take their time, they plan things out. it took 8 years after they hit the World Trade center the first time to do it again. and the second time they got it right. unfortunatley.x(

3. Exactly! You know, I find it amazing that
many of the Bush apologists are quick to say "There hasn't been another terrorist attack on U.S. soil since 9/11." They site that as their 'evidence' that Bushie is keeping us safe.

They don't seem to want to understand that Al Qaeda has shown they are a very patient organization. Like you said, they first attacked the World Trade in February 1993, and waited until 2001 to implement the 'big one.'

5. I think so too.
The fact that we have not been attacked since 9/11 does not placate or appease me. In fact, it gives me more cause for concern, because it makes me think they are planning something even larger than 9/11.

And this is an Administration that does NOT know how to keep us safe. They took a sovereign country and turned it into a terrorist haven. Iraq was not a haven for terrorists prior to March 2003. But thanks to Bushie, now it is.
