1. sounds like it's referring to alternative health options
Edited on Thu Aug-17-06 08:32 PM by GloriaSmith
I found this on Google, maybe this is what he's getting at: http://www.naturalhealthcaretoday.com/

on edit, here is his stance on healthcare:

Health of the People of Florida

Cancer and Heart disease is the #1 and #2 cause of death in Florida.

Diabetes is an epidemic in Florida and the United States. Prevention and reversing.

I know acid reflux is made worse by prescription drugs and will be the cause of esophageal cancer that will out number all cancers combines caused by drugs like Nexium, Prilosec, and Protonix as reported in the Wall Street Journal.

Osteoporosis, arthritis, pain, and sleep problems are a clear proof of Floridians not taking in enough calcium and magnesium in their diet and that is my opinion.

The autistic children problem in Florida is unacceptable.

Nursing home residents are on an average of 9 prescription drugs. Lets nourish our elderly not drug them.

All children from birth to age 12 should have free dental hygiene care. Each child should receive a free electric toothbrush every January.

Parents should eliminate sugar and simple starches from a child’s diet.

All Florida children born to a Florida registered voter and legal citizens will receive $100 per year into a health savings account in the child’s name. Upon reaching their 18th birthday the money can be withdrawn by the child providing he passes a blood test showing him/her free of tobacco or drugs including prescription drugs unless necessarily prescribed. This will encourage good health and prevent smoking.

Businesses should begin announcing they will not hire smokers, motivating children not to start.

Medicaid and food stamp money should be redirected to buy quality food from farmers markets.

Children must begin with a good protein balanced breakfast. Most children today either do not eat breakfast or eats a sugar and starch breakfast causing low blood sugar. These children can not concentrate; they are tired, and are disruptive including mental problems and bad behavior. ADD & ADHD is caused by low blood sugar and over use of antibiotics in my opinion. One in 10 boys today is on Ritalin or Aderal. Some students take it at parties called phariming along with Oxycotin. They think since it is prescribed it is safe.

California grown spinach has 10X the amount of iron than does Florida grown spinach if memory serves.

life myself.

Makes perfect sense.

If you are a smoker and trying to deflect criticism of your selfish habit.

18. Nope. It Was In Response To Such An Ignorant And Misguided Statement As
Edited on Thu Aug-17-06 09:04 PM by OPERATIONMINDCRIME
saying that smokers don't deserve health care because they don't take of themselves. That was such a patently absurd statement I'm amazed someone here actually truly feels that way. I found it to be one of the most narrow minded sentiments I've come across here.

So if you believe that smokers don't deserve healthcare because they don't take care of themselves and therefore the ills that befall them are their fault, then you must too believe that those that don't follow perfect diets, exercise regimes, sanitary precautions, health practices and weight control also don't deserve healthcare because the ills that may befall them are their fault as well.

Sound like an absurd sentiment? So did the former.

20. I don't like teaching kids that drug tests are a normal way of life
Talk about the erosion of trust. Submit to the govt. That is not what I think kids should be taught and I hope is something that will not be the wave of the future if we get back in power. I don't like govt intrusion into personal decisions or bodily fluids period.

16. Such passive aggressiveness.
Telling someone that they aren't willing to take care of themselves because they smoke is very offensive. It's like someone telling you that you neglect and abuse your kids if you allow them to eat macaroni and cheese all the time. Neither is healthy, but the implied intentional neglect is really insulting.

Cigarettes are addictive. The success rate for people who try to quit is somewhere around 10%. That doesn't make the other 90% who try to quit weaklings who don't care about themselves. I quit smoking and there is always a possibility that I could relapse. It is a very powerful adddiction.

And as taxpayers, American citizens, and human beings, smokers deserve health care as much as anyone else in this country. Besides, just because someone smokes doesn't automatically mean their going to have lung cancer. In fact, the odds are heavily in favor that they WON'T get it.

I don't know when it became so acceptable for people to sneer at other humans because they smoke. The ugly attitude from some non-smokers towards other people is as polluting to my environment as cigarette smoke, just in a different way.

Once people get out of their teens, I think they are less likely to start smoking.

9. Umm . . .
"Nursing home residents are on an average of 9 prescription drugs. Lets nourish our elderly not drug them."

Now, my hubby treats patients in a couple of nursing homes. His patients might be on that many meds for very, very good reasons. This guy is insinuating that the patients are on those to keep them doped up or knocked out, but that would only take one pill, not nine. I know that one of the partners who runs the practice where my hubby works (he's staff there) says one scrip per decade of life, but my hubby disagrees with that. It might be mostly a joke, but still.

Meds are there for when we need them. Many of us need them. It's not for him to decide that.

He sounds like a Big Brother kind of guy, worried about everyone's health and not taking care of the rampant problems already here. I hope he either changes his platform or quits.

4. I've not heard of this guy, but Florida has some really wacko ideas
...regarding whole health, holistic therapies and natural health-care. We have a badly polluted state from decades of neglect from pesticides and corporate farming and a lot of this stuff is just smoke screens to cover up the real problem of getting rid of polluters, especially in among high tech companies and the space center.

This stuff is quackery when applied to sick people.

13. I want to know what he means by Pro-Life Plus
If he's talking about ensuring that all mothers are given the means to care for all of their children (pre-natal care, day care, decent affordable housing, medical care, good schools and food)then he's moving the entire abortion debate out of the sink hole it's been in the last twenty years. Make sure mothers have the means to take care of their kids, then talk to me about choice!

22. Special awards for families above a certain size?

Maybe even give medals, like a bronze for having 4 kids, a silver for having 6, and a gold medal for having 8?

It's been done before, in the name of being good pro-life Christians and good patriots.

Here's a picture of one:
