They suck BIGTIME!!

Air. America. Radio. Progressive. Radio. Democratic. Radio. Why oh why oh why are you running these creepy ads?

Unless their is some unspoken male-bonding thing we don't know about, where total strangers call each other up (yeah right) and commune instantly over their love for an automobile... suddenly shmoozing like "Is this weird that I'm calling?" and "No, man, it's cool, I'm WORKING right now............."

And we're to believe in 2006 the person being called doesn't react like they're being stalked by some freak and "BTW howthebleep did you get my number?"

AND in 2006 Volkswagen decides to run these commercials ONLY FOR MEN.................. about men, by men, with men, between men..........

PURTY FUKKIN CREEPY.

1. The only thing worse are those "Be afraid" PSAs they run. You know
There is no reason not to make a plan for a terrorist attack.

Or the "Honey I am so scared I nearly went around a Train gate. But I didn't "SOB'"

7. i hear ya!

only slightly less stupid than their previous commercial where they harped so much on the nutritional content that it sounded as if they were begging.

21. I'd be VERY disturbed if I got a phone call like that
And it really doesn't reflect well upon VW owners. You get the feeling they had to unload their cars because they couldn't hold on to a job long enough to keep up the payments.

Edited on Thu Aug-17-06 11:58 PM by don954
stupid and dont make sense with the "pre-loved" concept, but the one where the previous owner calls and asks if he can wash the car is funny. :)

Then again, im in the late 20s male demographic... ;)

10. SUCKS
and anyway-- HOW can you ASSUME that? :wow: with NO information?

MORE likely they knew that if they had women in the mix, it would make it more OBVIOUS how CREEPY the script is. At this point, it's merely mildly homoerotic.

Unless you guys do just instantly bond with total strangers who stalk you at work because they want to ask if your car is dirty so they can wash it................................................................

I always get women walking up to me asking me about it, I got it originally cause its a 48mpg turbo diesel. I was going to get the Jetta but i couldn't get it in turbo-d any more.

28. No TDI Jettas?
When was this? Both the current and previous generation Jettas offer the 1.9 TDI option. In fact, I think it's offered in pretty much every car offered by VW aside from the GTi and the Phaeton. There's even a diesel Touareg, albeit it's a 5 liter V10 making more than 550 lb/ft of torque.

31. no more turbo-d untill some new regs get settled
no 2007 models will have it. It really really sucks, and the unbought 2006 turbo-d models are getting harder and harder to find.

Pretty stupid add, but I really think AAR should be allowed to make money to keep their programming on the air - i like it too much. Liberals being their own worst enemy again - lol.

the fake as all hell Timeshares dude and the cheesy Brush Lintball Democraticmatch.com one. Both of those suck worse..

The worst part about listening to the AAR Stream at work is I hear these commercials like 15 times an hour for 8 hours.

11. Actually, this is one of the less annoying ads they have run
Many have been far worse....

1) Ovaltine
2) Brutus the barking search dog
3) The waitress on crank who dumps coffee in the crotch of the guy who's "gellin'" and then won't shut the fuck up about it.
4) Ovaltine
5) Anything where they repeat the phone number three goddamn times in a row (As if the same commercial airing 4 times every hour isn't repetitive enough?)
6) (for XM listeners) Opie and Anthony ads.
7) (for Clear Channel owned affiliate listeners) PSA's featuring members of the Chimpministration.
8) Did I mention Ovaltine?

a product every household needs to focus an ad campaign TOTALLY on males?

Yer right, good list. Crank Waitress spilling Rich Chocolate Ovaltine HOT on somebody-- that would be BAD :hi:

Edited on Fri Aug-18-06 03:06 PM by catmandu57
Dr. fool channeling Dr. Frankenfurter "Don't just dream it, be it".
Jettas are for men Beetles are made for women, but it still sucks, and it would be creepy to have a stalker like that.

edit: it's dark here and I can't touchtype, fixed frankenfurter.
