Patrick Buchanan rips Bush a new one (again)
And the article is on smarmy TownHall, no less. No link, since I don't want to risk my thread getting locked, but it is a very fun read.

I am glad when "paleo-conservatives" like Buchanan can point out to their readers that the men and women running (and ruining) our government right now are NOT conservatives. Some day that message will sink in.

Judgement day coming -- for the neocons
By Patrick J. Buchanan
Friday, August 18, 2006

<snip>

Wherever "conservatives" stand -- whether Old Right or neocon, supply-sider or deficit hawk, America First or global democrat, Big Government or small government -- the returns of Bush's policies are largely in and the outcome unlikely to change. And this is why Bush and the GOP are in trouble, and neoconservatism is in the dock.

The altarpiece of the Bush foreign policy is Iraq. American dead are at 2,600, the wounded at 18,000. Three hundred billion dollars has been plunged into the war. Yet, Iraq is a bloodier, more dangerous place than it has been since the fall of Baghdad. One hundred are being killed every day, half of them in the capital. IED attacks on U.S. troops are at record levels -- three-and-a-half years after Baghdad fell.

The Bush democracy campaign brought stunning electoral gains for the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, Hamas in Palestine, Hezbollah in Lebanon and Moqtada al-Sadr in Iraq. Our ally Hamid Kharzai is today little more than mayor of Kabul, as the Taliban roam the southeast and coalition casualties reach the highest levels since liberation, five years ago.

<snip>

Bush's trade policy has left us with annual deficits of $800 billion with the world and $200 billion with Beijing. Once the greatest creditor nation in history, we are now the greatest debtor. U.S. manufacturing has been hollowed out with thousands of plants closed and 3 million industrial jobs vanishing since Bush took office.

2. Sorry....PB Is A Racist Mother F'er.
His opinions don't count to me, even if he does feel similar to me on King george. He's still a Right Winger, and is just trying to get in the media and raise his own stature.

9. Sheeple Herder
He issues weak criticism of the reprehensible party of which he is still a member.
He gathers moderate and progressive Republicans about himself.
He then prevents them from jumping the fence by making it appear reform is possible within the party.
Then, on the eve of the election, he abandons them in the desert with parting advice to vote for the dogs he's been trashing.
He's a GOP sheeple herder.

6. It lets people think twice
A lot of people don't want to give sites like this any traffic. Just as a courtesy to those who might unthinkingly click on the link, I left it off. Those who really want to read it can go seek it out.

Also, I don't know if this is one of the goofy sites that get you in trouble on DU. I linked to a 9/11 conspiracy site once last year, and got my thread deleted.

4. Also Amazing These "Enlightened" Repubs
Sure, he probably voted for him twice, after all, that's what the repubs do. Vote The Party.

I smirk whenever a repub starts to criticize King george. Like, HELLO! He's been this way since he STOLE the 2000 election, and he's a mean SOB. It's because of jerk-off repubs that we got him for another 4 years. They allowed him to make it close enough to steal TWICE!

8. yuck...
I don't think either choice is very attractive.

Unless you're talking about Peanut Butter. I'd take THAT over Bush.

11. Right now, I would choose Buchanan
He couldn't possibly be any worse, and at least he would end this global imperialist bullshit. Granted, his domestic agenda would probably suck all sorts of ass, but then Chimpy doesn't even HAVE a domestic agenda aside from "tax cuts for the rich", "more tax cuts for the rich" and "still more tax cuts for the rich".

10. Buchanan ...Who would (and has) voted for Bush in a heartbeat?
Edited on Fri Aug-18-06 03:47 AM by GreenTea
Pat Buchanan....Yes, Buchanan is a conservative (not to be trusted, who has always towed the party line)...and he also knows Bush has 2 1/2 more years and watch old Pat jump on the privatization of Social Security bandwagon after the Nov. elections...

Think you'll ever hear Buchanan talk about the republican owned Diebold machine? Buchanan is always in agreement of things that won't hurt his same fascist agenda, that he wants more of it...Oh, what smokescreens he throws up!
