John Karr (Jonbenet) is certainly a strange fellow
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060818/ap_on_re_us/jonbenet_ramsey

"It's clear to me that he's somewhat interested or maybe even obsessed by the case and the real question is whether he's inserting himself into it for some obscure psychological reason," said author Carlton Smith, who wrote 1997's "Death of a Little Princess: The Tragic Story of the Murder of JonBenet Ramsey.

According to Thai police, Karr said he picked JonBenet up at school and took her to her home. But the slaying occurred during Christmas break.

Karr's ex-wife, Lara Knutson, told reporters she cannot defend him, then insisted he was with her in Alabama that Christmas.

-------------

2 days after the story breaks, and it just gets weirder and weirder.

7. Actually he was only arrested at the request of the boulder police.
He wasn't facing jail time for anything he did in Thailand.

He doesn't need to escape Thai prison.

Didn't you read some of the posts here yesterday and the day before? People had him convicted and being put to death for this killing.

I don't take anything that "major network news" says seriously anyway. I'm just surprised that so many people here at DU still listen to what the talking heads on TV say without thinking for themselves.

12. I've always suspected Patsy
I'll get fried for suggesting it, but my theory is no stupider than the big brother did it theory.

I believe Patsy controlled every aspect of Jonbenet's life, being a former beauty queen winner herself. She controlled her movements, her smiles, her walk, her persona, and I bet one night the little girl did something unforgivable like wet the bed or defy her mother and Patsy went off and maybe threw her down the stairs and she cracked her skull, and in a panic, Patsy staged a crime scene to cover her ass.

Of course I have no clue, but just as Karr is weird to watch, Patsy always creeped me out enough to make my flesh crawl.

32. Patsy reaction was bizarre...
Edited on Fri Aug-18-06 01:58 PM by TheGoldenRule
In all those interviews, you'd think you'd catch her choking up or tearing up or losing control...but nothing. No emotion. As a mom I can't imagine that kind of loss, so I want to believe in her innocence, but I just can't.

cause 'flat affect.' Anti-depressants. Chokes off emotions. Until you rule that out you can't have a feel for her true reactions.

just sayin'...I'm not invested in it one way or the other

37. Anyone who goes through a serious shock
like the murder of a child, would most likely be on some kind of drug therapy even temporarily. Those who have never experienced such a shock find it hard to understand how useful drugs can be for that purpose. Of course some people have what it takes to go through trauma without chemical help, but I'd say these days it's the minority. So I just assumed Patsy would be on meds, which can make you seem less reactive, less emotional to others.

Yeah it's tempting...if the abuse we are going through at the hands of our government continues, more people will use anti-depressants or anti-anxiety drugs (more profits for Big Pharma). I don't judge anyone who finds it hard going these days. Fearful times. I'm trying to get by with yoga and meditation (and the occasional acupuncture). But I feel the stress of it all fairly often.

33. Huh?
So controlling that she inserted a wooden object as a form of rape, hit her so hard with a blunt object that it left a nearly 12" gash in her skull and meticulously strangled her?

Sorry, doesn't sound like something a mother would do.....even as a cover-up.

The fact is that there is zero evidence that she is involved. None. Was she kind of a weird Fundie? No doubt. But there is no evidence whatsoever that she did that to her daughter. In fact, the only DNA evidence they have points to someone outside the family.

I'm not trying to "fry" you, but let's give this a rest now. Let's let that woman rest in peace now.

15. Karr named his kid SEVEN
Edited on Fri Aug-18-06 09:25 AM by kurth
Raised in tiny Hamilton, Ala., the slightly built Lee Harvey Oswald lookalike met 13-year-old Quientana Shotts in 1983 and married her a year later, when he was 20. The marriage was annulled after nine months. Shotts said then that Karr forced her to lie about her age and marry him through "intimidation and fear" and that she feared for her life.

He married again in 1989 to 16-year-old Lara, who later said in divorce papers that he coerced her to get pregnant so they could get around the parental consent marriage law. Lara and Karr's twin daughters, Angel and Innocence, were stillborn. They immediately tried again, producing John Mark 2nd in 1990, Damon in 1992 and Seven Exodus in 1993.

16. What strange name choices?????
son 1 = Two Christian apostles
son ii = Da(e)mon...Lucifer might have been a 2nd choice????
son iii = What year did the movie "Seven" come out??? - Seven Deadly Sins??? Please note: Dad is not innocent...of "superbia (hubris/pride), avaritia (avarice/greed), luxuria (extravagance, later lust), invidia (envy), gula (gluttony), ira (wrath), and acedia (sloth). What a moniker to live up to,huh?

Sounds to me there might be some fundie wrestling w/a devil going on???

the whole JonBenet thing reminds me of those freaky murals at the Denver Airport.""An African woman in colorful native garb; a Native American woman who's heritage the airport's art supposedly celebrates; a blonde girl with cupid bow lips, a Star of David on her chest and a bible in her hands. Each lay dead in open coffins for your viewing pleasure. A burning city, children sleeping on piles of bricks, a line of mourning women in rags with dead babies, limp in their arms. A huge, looming military figure in a gas mask brandishes a sword and machine gun. Part of an actual note written by a child interred in a Nazi death camp. Strange words embedded in the floor with no explanation about what they mean. Welcome to Denver Internatinal Airport!""

Little blonde girl lying in a coffin....nazi stormtrooper...cities burning in apocalypse. MKultra anyone?

is making a 'diagnosis' of him? I have no idea what he really said since it all went through several translator from what I have read, and am reserving judgement one way or the other. But I would like to point out that we know even less about him then we ever did about the crime itself (thanks to the Boulder moron cops) so saying yea or nay at this time is foolish...

(and it's fine if you don't), go to www.denverpost.com. There is an amazing amount of detailed, factual coverage on that site. Most of it has been up for two or three days. It is obvious that the cable news lapdogs don't do even rudimentary research. Spend just a few minutes on that site and then watch CNN or MSNBC. You'll laugh out loud at how uninformed they are.
