And I was poo poo'd a week ago about this...
Yes, I'm smug, yes, I'm saying I told you so.

last week I reported on here about someone I know who has a friend in Iraq that told of the Iranians and the Turks shelling the Kurds. And everyone here thought I was full of shit, well get a load of this:

Kurds flee homes as Iran shells Iraq's northern frontier

Turkey and Iran have dispatched tanks, artillery and thousands of troops to their frontiers with Iraq during the past few weeks in what appears to be a coordinated effort to disrupt the activities of Kurdish rebel bases.
Scores of Kurds have fled their homes in the northern frontier region after four days of shelling by the Iranian army. Local officials said Turkey had also fired a number of shells into Iraqi territory.

Some displaced families have pitched tents in the valleys behind Qandil Mountain, which straddles Iraq's rugged borders with Turkey and Iran. They told the Guardian yesterday that at least six villages had been abandoned and one person had died following a sustained artillery barrage by Iranian forces that appeared designed to flush out guerrillas linked to the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK), who have hideouts in Iraq.

Although fighting between Turkish security forces and PKK militants is nowhere near the scale of the 1980s and 90s - which accounted for the loss of more than 30,000 mostly Turkish Kurdish lives- at least 15 Turkish police officers have died in clashes. The PKK's sister party in Iran, the Kurdistan Free Life Party (Pejak), has stepped up activities against security targets in Kurdish regions. Yesterday, Kurdish media said eight Iranian troops were killed.

1. Sometimes even being right doesn't make up for the
sadness and helpless outrage, though, does it? What an awful, awful fucked up mess these fools have created.

2. Watch as the U.S. looks the other way.....
everytime I think things could not possibly get more fucked up over there, it does. I can't imagine how many deaths we will end up being directly and indirectly responsible for in that country.

4. We used to look the other way
when Turkey flew unauthorized sorties into the no-fly zone. Boning the Kurds has been a tradition for the US.

I still do not understand why our media says nothing about the Iraq Kurdish areas under foreign control.

I swear our media is totally controlled as to story selection by RW GOP.

Funny how those that poo-poo are always back to poo-poo the next time something sorta unbelievable happens.

But you are right, such is the nature of an open forum.

You're wrong, people don't always disagree with you!!!

Ha ha, just wanted to make a funny. But you sure do seem to be right. And try sharing some good news here. I gurantee somebody will throw a wet blanket on it, no matter what it is.

But know what? This is still my very favorite internet site.

6. did they poo poo the info or your vague source?
I wasn't in the threads you refer to, so I don't know.
I would say that the info was plausible, but anyone on the internet that says they "have a friend" as a source is viewed skeptically by me until it proves genuine.
I can say I am sleeping with Helen Hunt, and even though that would be marvelous and dangerous (married to a redhead), typing it does not make it true (darn it!)

7. Your post said "Iran attacked Turkish oil reserves"
which is VERY different than Iran and Turkey both attacking Kurds in Iraq,
if this is the post you're referring to: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=364x1748237

13. And what's to say that's still not true...
People poo poo'd didn't believe even the smallest iota regarding Iran and or Turkey shelling the Kurds, let alone the shelling of an oil refinery.

Bottom line, we are not getting the whole story.

So, not to be nasty, I would hold judgment for a while longer.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=364&topic_id=1748237&mesg_id=1748773

and 90% of your OP is still completely unproven, and frankly unbelievable. What's that about "UN reserves"? "Turkish oil reserves"? That's what people were objecting to. The shelling of Kurds in Iraq has been reported before - eg May 4th, 2006, or May 18th, 2006.

20. Well, know what? who knows?
Remember, I put a disclaimer on the whole thing when I first posted it, I just find it very coincidental that it came to pass.

I still don't discount that the media is actively hiding things from us. We live in a time where conspiracy theories are turning out to be true and the "truth" is nothing but lies.

So I don't discount anything any longer and take the truth that is fed to us with a colossal shaker full of salt.

We live in interesting times, my friend. :)

Cheers.

24. So, after your disclaimer, you now say
"Yes, I'm smug, yes, I'm saying I told you so." When what has "come to pass" was happening and being reported well before your post, abd falls far short of what your post claimed. Hmm, you're really trying to have it every way possible, aren't you?

26. Who's being smug now?
You jump on me because the article doesn't say anything about a refinery being targeted????

Well, boo hoo on me, boy did I sooooo fuck up.

And what, you are miffed because I posted a snarky update on my post? Damn, that never happens on DU...get a grip.

And since you are so anal about posting my initial post, you will see I took no responcibility for the rumor. So wow, guess what, the rumor wasn't 100% accurate, damn, who whould have thunk that???

Just wait for Iran to be vilified for this shelling of the Kurds, with little or no mention of Turkey's role in this.

19. the Kurds
Iran, Iraq and Turkey for years have been fighting against the Kurds who want an independent Kurdistan. None of these countries want to lose a chunk of turf. That, essentially, is the main problem.

Check out the map here to see the problem:
