Officials: U.S. blocked missiles to Hezbollah
http://www.usatoday.com/news/world/2006-08-17-iran-missiles_x.htm

My first thought was "Here we go!"... and that the Bush administration is going to use this a pretext to go into Iran. And they may very well do that.

Then I checked out the "Your Reaction" link in the story, half expecting to read a bunch of "well, what did we expect" comments and/or "that's IF it happened" doubts.

Instead, the posts are almost exclusively of the "We need to take out Iran" nature. I haven't seen the words "nuke 'em" repeated so many times since... well, since never.

This makes me think the FEAR tactic is working much, much better (for Bush) than we anticipate. I hate to think we might underestimate this and lose elections again, just as in 2004. I truly feel the reason we lost the presidency to the obvious failure Bush (election tampering aside) was one thing... FEAR. 9/11, and their repeated use of the terror scare, had rattled the public much more that at least I anticipated.

Fear is trumping reason, and I don't think that is changing. If anything, it may be getting worse.
