CNN is still sick with Fox envy -- and it's only getting worse
Tim Goodman
Friday, January 20, 2006

These must be great days to work at Fox News. Not only does the 24-hour cable channel beat rival CNN like a sick, sad mule, but Roger Ailes is so deep in the heads of CNN's managers that every time they stumble over themselves in chaos -- which is often -- the chairman of Fox News looks like some kind of psyops genius.

If Ailes -- boo! -- isn't haunting the halls of CNN and driving CNN President Jonathan Klein batty with paranoia, then how else to explain Klein's relentlessly nonsensical decisions, which are driving CNN into the ground? What person rooted in reality looks at CNN and thinks, "Now there's a network on the rise"?

Well, apparently there's one person -- Klein.

If you watch CNN or Headline News with any regularity, then you know it won't be long before the Next Big Blunder. Perhaps that news crawl at the bottom of the screen will read: "We're Out of Ideas -- Try MSNBC."

1. We REALLY need a liberal news station
and not just KO or Daily Show, occasionally Rachel Maddow on The situation. I think most people are believing and trusting, and aren't internet savvy or don't have a computer. Some just don't know what sites to go to. So, they argue the lies they are being told. And there are so many, that it is really frustrating to try to reason with them.
C-span is the only true news channel, and that I hear has been twisted lately.

trying to argue with idiots, myself. More or less. Occasionally, but it's tough.

3. You have to pick and choose your spots.
I get most of my news from Keith Olberman and Jon stewart.Lou dobbs once in awhile and tweety when he has someone I like on.Of course it's good to get the opposing sides views so you have your arguments ready to debate them.

4. What I want is a truly *objective* news station
without pundits, without spin-like the evening news we had 25 or more years ago. Just give us the stories-all of them, without selective reporting-and let the people think for themselves! and leave the celebrity bullshit for the entertainment channels.

An AMAZING contrast to our junk corporate media.

It was amazing seeing unbiased news reporting.

5. Ted Turner never should have let CNN go
Selling Turner Broadcasting to Time Warner was the worst decision Ted ever made.

If Ted was still at the helm, CNN never would have turned into Fox-lite.

9. I jut don't get it
I think it's safe to say that CNN has not been run very well. It seems to me to be a rather stupid idea to try to attract FOX viewers. If anyone with half a brain ran CNN they'd look to shows like the Dailey show on comedy central to see how to attract liberal viewer and young viewer. All they are doing is trying to get viewers that are already not going to watch CNN cause they think it's a communist channel. Instead of younger and hipper CNN just gets meaner and dumber.
