JBR "Killer" Hoax Debunked Within 1 Day; Bush Hoaxes Live Forever
Well, if nothing else, the John Mark Karr "I killed JonBenet" story has shown us one thing: if the media
WANTS to investigate a story that is full of holes, they are very, very capable of doing so. This story went from
"Killer found" to "Serial confessor?" in less than 24 hours. Within 3 days, the pundits have gone from
vindication for the victimized Ramsey parents to, well, not so much.

MSNBC has been shameless in it's non-stop coverage of the JBR story, probably because their brand-new
network head - Dan "Who Cares About Civil Rights" Abrahms broke the story. They are busy covering their butts
just in case the whole story goes south.

On the other hand - no WMD, illegal wiretaps, torture - stories that show bushco to be lying through their teeth
are treated with kid gloves, allowing the lies of bushco to live on forever. How else to explain the fact that
half of Americans still believe SH had WMD and was involved in 9/11?

Yep, it's quite obvious that the media has the wherewithall to shoot down bushco at any given moment, but that
they choose not to.

3. Yep, my thoughts exactly..
How fortuitous! This 10 yr old story should take precedence over a magnanimous court decision slapping the Executive Branch down, reminding them how the system works. Not that I don't hope this new discovery culminates in an ending to the Ramsey family's never ending nightmare. BUT, this court ruling speaks volumes, the essence of the words, "TRUTH to POWER" slamming the hammer of justice in the faces of would be usurpers, thinking, they are above the LAW!

5. CBSEN with B Schieffer spent literally 5 seconds on the slapdown
story last night. Unbelieveable.

8. Notice the msm is calling it "an opinion" rather than a"a ruling" ?
Subtle, but oddly consistent.

11. Bingo! They are relentless in their support of bushco,
and it's not always obvious. Good catch.

4. There is an underlying theme of trusting whatever the government
tells you is the truth in the media. It seems that the generally consider it irresponsible to question official government pronouncements, and instead simply report everything as solid bedrock facts.

A case in point would be the coverage of the colin powell UN speech. It was obvious that the entire content of the speech was defective & bullshit on the very face of it, however it was duly reported in glowing and reverent terms universally. We were told by every media outlet that he hit one out of the park, and that the government provided an open & shut case, and that Saddam was condemned by these facts.

7. Any day now, O.J. will find the real killer
and then, a week later, it too will be debunked.

12. I don't think the media debunked the story....
What I saw was this:

The media sensationalized the original story with 24x7 coverage. Karr's family immediately protested that he was with them at Christmas - a pretty tight alibi.

The media buried that aspect of the story until we learned that he was an obsessive follower of the JBR story and the blogs (including DU) started to put 1 & 1 together.

That's when the media decided to run for cover on the story.

15. I used the word "debunked" due to character count restrictions
in thread headlines. It's the best I could come up with at the time.

14. It all make perfect sense
Once you realize that modern day tv journalists are actually carnival barkers trying to outshriek each other in order to draw as large a crowd as possible to their particular ring toss booth. No disrespect meant to real carnies.
