then, no, they shouldn't. I doubt Bernie Saunders will get a committee chair either -- at least not of a major committee

Since he was giving us the majority by switching he had every right, and for his state every responsibility, to demand committee chairs and all kinds of stuff. Unless Lieberman has that kind of power he deserves nothing whatsoever.

that's fairly simplistic. Jeffords passed chairmanship of the Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee to Ted Kennedy, and Reid gave him chairmanship of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, which Reid would have had. The trade amounted to payback for Jeffords switiching from GOP to Indy. Of course, with Lieberman having done the opposite, abandoning the Dems for Indy, the Dems have no similar motive in handing Lieberman a chairmanship.
