Oh wait, Lamont won that race, didn't he? Curious why all the coverage has been of the guy who lost. Most curious.

Joe and Cheney saying the same thing a few days ago kinda did it. Now the M$M will treat Joe like a long lost friend. Like they do with all Repukes.

All we can do is pay reparations. Hopefully the Iraqis will accept UN support, but that is not OUR decision.

Lamont was very clear that pulling out the military didnt' mean abandoning the Iraqi people - that he supported large amounts of humanitarian aid and rebuilding aid.

lets get out and let 'them' solve it.
do you believe that 'humanitarian' aid wordspeak is just that.... words. look to Katrina. has the US actually paid off the 'pledges' worldwide in earthquakes tsuamis AIDS, etc.?
you really believe there is any humanitarianism in this fuggin ugly corporate machine?
I've learned a time ago that people and their suffering means Nothing to the ones in control or pretend to be. and a few good men and women don't stand a chance

|
In fact, that is the only way it can be solved. Every second we are there makes it worse.
The Iraqis are not children. The last thing they need is one more minute of American involvement, and patriarchal Americans arguing that only we can fix it. We can't. We only increase the damage. Lamont is damn right, and you are just plain wrong.

No, the Iraqi's are not children, they come from the cradle of civilisation. We are their children.
US miltiary getting out of there I do agree with, but they had no fucking business being there in the first place. Blaming the Iraqi's for Bush's slippery missile dong dreams is just not on my card.

Of course Bush fucked up Iraq. That goes without saying. The question is whether Lamont was wrong. He was not. This isn't about telling "THEM" that they have to fix it. They have to fix it. That's a given. The point is that WE CAN'T FIX it, and the sooner puffed up Americans get THAT, the better.

Uh, look who's in charge right now. You think that the bungling of that disaster would have happened under Clinton? Yes some Dems are beholden to some corporate interests, which is wrong, but it does NOT make them the same. If you think the Dems and repugs are the same, then I have nothing more to say to you. Why are you here?

Lieberman was just the tip of the iceberg of how diluted 'democrats' can be.
do not accuse me of being in the bush camp, if that's what you mean.
things are not black and white in reality. reality is we are made to think so and go for each others unfluencial throats.

30. I understand what you mean. |
|
And I wasn't accusing you of anything - simply saying this is Democratic underground not anti-both parties underground. If you don't support the Democrats, why are you here? That's what I meant. Has nothing to do with supporting Bush, just not support Democrats and painting them all with the same brush a la Nader. There are definitely divisions within the Democratic party. That does not make the whole party rotten as the pugs. What Democrats need to do is unite right now, get rid of the 'waste' (Liebermann et al) in the primaries and get the Repubs the hell out of power.

31. I'm not trying to fan the flames here, but I have a question |
|
You indicated that Lamont gave the wrong answer in your opinion. What, in your view, would have been a more appropriate response for him to have given? I realize we have an incredibly complex situation on our hands in Iraq and we have multiple options for resolving this situation (many of which are less than desirable approaches).
I'm just trying to understand where you are coming from. Merely, for the sake of discussion -- what would you have liked Ned Lamont to have said in answer to the question? Me, I have no preference -- just polite curiosity.

34. Thank you, QuestionAll |
|
This is exactly why I joined Democratic Underground. We all have very strong passions on a number of subjects, but not always on the same topic. That provides us all room to grow.
Initially, I had no issue with Ned Lamont's response, but your responses have helped me recognize a layer of complexity I had previously overlooked. Thank you for hanging in there and holding your ground. I think I have a better understanding of the source of your frustration now.

Lamont says yes....but I started off with an asterisk beside my name and won......(something like that)
Leslie asks if Joe should step aside
Lamont says ............He should play by the rules and RESPECT the winner!
Leslie...He'd be crazy to drop out ...hes appealing to Democrats..Independents and Republicans,,,,,,looks like a "2 Man race"............
