Good LTTE In The Local Paper
We are liberals. We love our country. We are happy to pay our taxes and to increase them if it means folks are brought into the security and hope of the American dream.

We are proudest of our country when it is inclusive, when we take care of the old, young and sick among us.

We are not proud when the rich get tax breaks while the poor struggle with a miserly minimum wage and outrageous gas prices, a result of an unjustifiable war in the Middle East and greed among the big oil companies.

Surely you jest when you imply that you are proud of: five years of war in Iraq, declared unilaterally and on false justification; five years of Osama Bin Laden roaming free; five years of enflaming the Middle East, creating new terrorists and enemies; a full year of thumb-twiddling while New Orleans rots; and, a vice president who accuses voters in Connecticut of supporting al-Qaida by voting against Sen. Lieberman.

We are proud to be Americans. We are proud when we live in peace and security; when we live up to our American values; when we engage leaders of other cultures in serious dialog about the world’s challenges and opportunities. We are proud when we are respected and taken seriously around the world.

We look forward to the day, some day soon, when all that is true again.

3. Whoa! That is precious!
Count me in as one of those "Liberals"!

I can only imagine what the "Dr Conroy" had to say to elicit this fine letter from Tom and Peggy Canterbury?

11. for example, we were proud when W.J. Clinton was President.
That next-to-last paragraph reminded me that those were the conditions throughout most of the 90s.

See, Rethugs are not the only ones who bring up Clinton now--but we Dems give him credit (and blame) for what he REALLY did, not for the failures of *.
