Airline chief: 'Terror leaders laughing in their caves'
TERRORISTS are "rolling around the caves of Pakistan, laughing" at Britain's response to the terror threat, an airline boss said last night as he gave the government a seven-day deadline to relax restrictions or face legal action.

Ryanair boss Michael O'Leary described some of the security measures as "farcical, Keystone Kops-like and completely insane and ineffectual".

Pilots also attacked the measures, which ban them from taking toothpaste on to aircraft, and said subjecting flight crews to the same restrictions as passengers made "no sense at all".

(snip)
Banning items such as water bottles and toothpaste was "nuts" and the terrorists "must be rolling around the caves of Pakistan, laughing". He said it was "complete horse manure" to infer that passengers either faced delays or death.

1. He's right!
Outside airport workers in the US can't bring sunscreen to work! It is RIDICULOUS!

5. If not for the fact it would come out of my taxes...
I would say the government should provide them with free sunscreen on the job. And provide travelers with free toiletries from a wide selection.

Then again, I'd rather spend my taxes on toothpaste and sunscreen than a lot of the things it goes to now.

9. We'll all pay for it...
Through higher health care costs. Many of these workers will sweat off the sunscreen in a couple of hours and spend 6 hours in direct sunlight. After many years, I can see problems.

3. Hi cal04. Sigh. It's such a joke, isn't it? This nightmare

might just be over soon!!!

I think it's so funny that people still think terrorists live in caves. :-)

7. I think Buschco and terrorists both want us to think terrorists live in
caves, at some primeval level, that is scary in itself. I am sure the first of our ancestors who lived in huts or tents were scared of people who still lived in caves and after they were gone there were still animals who lived in caves to be afraid of.

4. Keystone Kops is perfect for Bush & Blair
i used Keystone Kops for them about 2 years ago in an LTTE in the Hartford Courant.... that was when they outed the double-agent in Al-Qaeda to justify their terror alert around the Dem Convention.

8. I flew this week.
Had to check my bag, of course, then went through security and shopped at The Body Shop, Clinique, Eckerd...didn't buy anything, of course. No one checked my bag. Got on the plane, had an hour delay, got off the plane and went to Victoria's Secret and Perfumania. Got back on. Again, no one checked my bag.
On the way home, no one checked my carry on. The woman next to me, an airline employee, had a huge bottle of water that she brought on board with her.
No one asked me if I had any killer hair gel. If I worked for the TSA, I'd be embarassed to even question people. Apparently, they're either humiliated or unconcerned, because I didn't see anyone stopped or questioned regarding the new security rules. Just a lot of passengers tossing perfectly good products and none too happy about it.
Just another distraction. I'll bet bush*, blair and cheney are laughing, too.
Another problem with checking your bags is that where I often took standby flights if I got to the airport early, now I can't because my luggage is on the wrong plane.
This whole new 'security' farce is just bullshit.

10. This pilot is right. Interesting, Cuban-Americans hold this country
hostage in rel;ation to Cuba. Muslims hold the U.S. and U.K hostage because the U.S. and U.K. administrations need to play many simultaneous games and juggle many untruths and truths to maintain hate and fear.

11. Of course they're laughing. This is all bullshit.
It's extreme overkill. And it's misdirected. As soon as one method presumed terror becomes known and we all overreact, the terrorists will come up with another scheme.

Meanwhile, we continue to give up our freedom and our middle east policy, which is the heart of the problem, is ignored.
