Did you catch John Edwards on the Majority Report earlier tonight? He rocks! He has really gotten mis message together since 2004; he speaks with a lot of passion as well as with a real maturity and authority. AND his message is so populist. I was beginning to think I'd never hear a real fire breathing Democrat again.

Now, the sixty four buck question: Do you think he's the real deal?

Now that the initial "glow" has worn off, I have to tell you, I absolutely do believe he is the real deal. Not one single alarm went off in my mind and there is a clarity in his eyes that's almost otherworldly. He's speaking truth and I honestly believe because he KNOWS the truth of what happened, that this will be what motivates and sustains me. I'm convinced he's going to run.

He reminds me sometimes of Clinton, but not so glib. He reminds me of John Kennedy in his appeal, though not so aristocratic. I agree that there is something very special there that we only glimpsed in the 2004 VP campaign.

As far as John Edwards being the real deal, Im undecided and have questions. I like what he says pretty much, but I sort of sensed something about him during the last campaign. It was more just watching him during candid shots, like on C-Span election trail coverage for example. Like he wasn't being totally genuine. Maybe its his law background, or the enormity of the media attention and being pulled 1000 ways at once..I'm not sure. Just something I saw in his face when he "turned it on " or "off". I'm not against him at all and look forward to seeing him again, but I do have some questions.

I applaud your questioning which is exactly what we ought to be doing. I was so disgusted with both him AND Kerry after the concession that I couldn't bear watching either one of them for quite some time. I think something may have happened internally with him...as you say, so much for him to handle...but I saw something last night I've not seen in him before and crazy as it sounds, it's something I've wanted to see in all of them but haven't as yet. And it was anger. And outrage. And it resonated with me because they were ALL had and most haven't had the guts to acknoledge that. So, that's where I am with him now but as you, I'll be watching very, very carefully. FFFool me once..sh sh shame on....LOL!

87. My unprofessional take on 2004 is that he was being very tightly

managed by Kerry's team (the DLC crowd) and it wasn't a very comfortable fit. Hell, everybody looks stiff and uncomfortable since those guys came along. They should stick to fundraising and leave the campaiging to people who understand the art of communication, imo.

About the turning on/turning off; there can be a tremendous energy output in being ON all the time. Professional Pols have to figure out how to conserve their energy or they burn out pretty quickly -- especially on a national campaign. Campaigning is performance in a lot of ways, although we usually don't like to think of it in those terms.

So I tend to cut them a little slack for that sort of thing.

against each other any more; they're just competing for the lobbyists' attention. I know that doesn't make sense, but at the top of the parties the interests represented aren't necessarily ours. They're looking out for the ruling class.

I just want some people in office that will look our for us, as well.

is autistic. I have no help. No respite. My husband has been working 60 hours a week to get ready for a trip out of the country for another week.

My autistic son requires constant supervision. If I so much as take a potty break, I am likely to find all kids of things from the refrigerator mixed and mashed and spilled and added to what I was cooking on the stove and all over the counters, floor, etc. I provide many things for him to do, but he is hyper and ADD and OD and takes meds. Every cabinet with liquids, soaps, shampoos, toilet paper, food, salt, sugar, EVERYTHING, has to be locked up. Sometimes my younger son (7) forgets to relock the cabinets and my older son gets into the stuff, and sometimes it gets expensive.

I love my boys and don't regret having them. But I sure could use a break. Sorry to have gotten you so worked up about it. But I think you are presenting yourself as a judgemental person by calling me "nasty". Geez, there's a Staples commercial where the (presumably) working father is glad to see them go back to school, and those kids aren't disabled. And I am supposed to feel guilty about being happy that school is starting? Don't assume I don't enjoy my time with them, because I do. But I need a few minutes alone besides at 10pm. Please don't jump the gun and criticize me until you've walked in my shoes for a few days.
